Alright I have not been able to touch in my shirt and its to the point where I am either going to burn it or use it as toilet paper. So I am here to enlist your help as to what I am doing wrong. It is a custom super ss katana and its set so its choking me and the sleeves are as far back as we can get them and I not only soaked the chest plate but I also soaked the sleeves for good measure. This is the about the 10th time I have tried it and I am at my breaking point and if I had the money to buy another shirt I would but I got this one and a meet coming up. So what advice do yall have?
Looks like you are really hit or miss with finding the groove. In the first 1 board video, you were hitting it no problem and looked like you could have touched given the ease with which you got to the board. On the other vids (including the 3 board, 1 board), you looked like you were out of the groove and all over the place. This is a very unforgiving shirt. A friend of mine (posts here) got one leading up to a recent meet and was unable to touch in training before the meet, switched to my standard katana, which was one size larger, and touched his first time in it, at the meet.

…let’s not talk about that
I think you would be better suited with the AS version of the shirt because I couldn’t help but notice (it seemed to me) that you are arching somewhat and bringing the bar down to your sternum area?? In the second video your wrists came in front of your elbows and the bar touched upper abs. I thought you were going to chop it but your spotters holding the bar prevented that from happening. The straight sleeves are usually for folks who touch around nipple area and dont arch. Letting the shirt collar ride way up your neck changes the groove even higher.
I’d pull the front of that shirt down as much as possible to get the groove where you want to touch (my katana’s best groove seems to be at the bottom of the silk screening). Also the Katana’s seem to favor those who really tuck their elbows at the bottom. I noticed your elbows are pretty wide the whole movement.
I know what you mean about burning the shirt. I’ve almost burned mine a few times. I read somewhere on here that the Katanas were great board press shirts. I’ll agree, I can do a 495 2 board but often bomb out off the chest with 435. Theres something about those last few inches that are very frustrating. Good luck Aller…

Yeah, with 1/2 the carryover. The new Katanas appear to be giving people multiply levels of carryover when used correctly. I’ve heard several people on this board talking about 200 lbs out of those things. Absolutely stupid.
