Heavy Metal Thread

I have been playing the guitar for 15 years and I play mostly heavy shit. I’m a big Metallica fan, Slayer, Megadeth… and so on.

I was wondering if anybody else is a heavy metal enthusiast like myself.

Some of my favorite lifting songs are:

KISS

  • I Love It Loud

MEGADETH

  • Every song on the following albums… ‘Rust In Peace’, ‘Peace Sells But Who’s Buying’, ‘So Far,So Good, So What…’, ‘Hidden Treasures’, Countdown To Extinction’, ‘Youthanasia’

METALLICA… every song on the first 4 albums (but these are my favorites)

  • Trapped Under Ice
  • Blitzkrieg
  • Blackened
  • And Justice For All
  • Disposable Heroes
  • Sanatarium

SLAYER(Reign in Blood & Seasons in the abyss)

  • Angel Of Death

DEATH
RIGOR MORTIS

…also I enjoy Rage Against The Machine- “Born of a Broken Man” I play that on my guitar every other day. You have to use drop D tuning.

and KoRn!

I love Slayer.
But I highly recommend these—
1.Ceca Raznatovic
2.Dragana Mirkovic
3.Lepa Brena
4.Mile Kitic
5.DJ Krmak

Its greatest balkan heavy metal!!
Got to hear it!!!

You guys have any clips you can share from youtube, or any other site?

Iron Maiden - From the first to last album. Metalica;Justice for all and Black Album. Progressive metal i guess?

For me it’s Judas Priest.
The relatively heavy simple riffs typically are what get me going. When I’m in a pensive mood, listening to complicated progressive music (Rush comes to mind) is my thing. But for lifting, something primal, raw, and very simple is great.

For quite some years I’ve been listening exclusively to rap music, but with this mtv shit going on, I can’t take these new rap artists anymore…

…so only logical solution to my problem was metal (and old school rock when I want to just chill and enjoy).

I love Slayer (their new album is great) who have the same great sound on every album-I just love that sound, high intensity all the way.

Six feet under are high on my list, Metallica (some songs on first CD remind me of Slayer’s music) Pantera, Soul fly, Sepultura, and of course Rage against the machine.

It’s great music, and when I need to get hyped I always listen to metal music.

METALLICA- Disposable Heroes

From the album “Master Of Puppets”

Bodies fill the fields I see, hungry heroes end
No one to play soldier now, no one to pretend
Running blind through killing fields, bred to kill them all
Victim of what said should be
A servant 'til I fall

Soldier boy, made of clay
Now an empty shell
Twenty one, only son
But he served us well
Bred to kill, not to care
Do just as we say
Finished here, greetings death
He’s yours to take away

Back to the front
You will do what I say, when I say
Back to the front
You will die when I say, you must die
Back to the front
You coward
You servant
You blindman

Barking of machinegun fire, does nothing to me now
Sounding of the clock that ticks, get used to it somehow
More a man, more stripes you wear, glory seeker trends
Bodies fill the fields I see
The slaughter never ends

Soldier boy, made of clay
Now an empty shell
Twenty one, only son
But he served us well
Bred to kill, not to care
Do just as we say
Finished here, greetings death
He’s yours to take away

Back to the front
You will do what I say, when I say
Back to the front
You will die when I say, you must die
Back to the front
You coward
You servant
You blindman

Why, am I dying?
Kill, have no fear
Lie, live off lying
Hell, hell is here

I was born for dying

Life planned out before my birth, nothing could I say
Had no chance to see myself, molded day by day
Looking back I realize, nothing have I done
Left to die with only friend
Alone I clench my gun

Soldier boy, made of clay
Now an empty shell
Twenty one, only son
But he served us well
Bred to kill, not to care
Do just as we say
Finished here, greetings death
He’s yours to take away

Back to the front
You will do what I say, when I say
Back to the front
You will die when I say, you must die
Back to the front
You coward
You servant
You blindman

ANOTHER MANDATORY LIFTING SONG OF MINE!

SLAYER- Reign in Blood
Angel Of Death
(Lyrics & Music - Hanneman)

Auschwitz, the meaning of pain
The why that I want you to die
Slow death, immense decay
Showers that cleanse you of your life
Forced in
Like cattle
You run
Stripped of
Your life’s worth
Human mice, for the Angel of Death
Four hundred thousand more to die
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Sadistic, surgeon of demise
Sadist of the noblest blood

Destroying, without mercy
To benefit the Aryan race

Surgery, with no anesthesia
Fell the knife pierce you intensely
Inferior, no use to mankind
Strapped down screaming out to die
Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of Death

Pumped with fluid, inside your brain
Pressure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes
Burning flesh, drips away
Test of heat burns your skin, your mind starts to boil
Frigid cold, cracks your limbs
How long can you last
In this frozen water burial?
Sewn together, joining heads
Just a matter of time
'Til you rip yourselves apart
Millions laid out in their
Crowded tombs
Sickening ways to achieve
The holocaust
Seas of blood, bury life
Smell your death as it burns
Deep inside of you
Abacinate, eyes that bleed
Praying for the end of
Your wide awake nightmare
Wings of pain, reach out for you
His face of death staring down,
Your blood running cold
Injecting cells, dying eyes
Feeding on the screams of
The mutants he’s creating
Pathetic harmless victims
Left to die
Rancid Angel of Death
Flying free

(LEADS: HANNEMAN, KING, HANNEMAN, KING, HANNEMAN)

[ Angel of Death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of Death

Angel of Death]

OMG nothing makes you want to smash wieghts more than Disposable Heros or Sanitarium.

Ive been playing for almost 20 years (ug) and the days of metal are my favorites.
Its just too bad that as we get older, finding the time to pick up the axe is harder and harder.

“What the hell have I” by Alice In Chains That song goes off. It’s in my CD player right now.

I also like “Sea of Sorrow”, “Bleed the freak”, & the whole DIRT album.

Good stuff so far.

I’d like to add Sepultura and Children of Bodom.

Rooster by alice in chains is good stuff.

I am on the younger end of the spectrum here, maybe this is why I like it, but Nirvana is really good. Especially Heart Shaped Box.

Eighteen by Alice Cooper.

everytime I die
hatebreed
one dead three wounded
fight everyone
aftermath of a trainwreck

Today I’m going to go see Megadeth, Opeth, Arch Enemy and Lamb of God in concert. Rock on.
