Now I don’t purport to know if ghosts/demons actually exist or not, having never had such an experience, but when very credible-sounding people (like Gothic77, etc., and possibly the family in the Discovery Channel story) start saying that these things happened to them, I tend to believe they’re not massive liars nor hallucinators, so I guess I lean toward believing that these things do exist. Regardless, even if there were some other cause for these things happening (which seems REAL doubtful in the Connecticut case), all I know is that if stuff like that were happening in MY house I would high-tail it out of there shirtless and shoeless if that’s how I found myself at the moment! Gooooooooood riddance!!!

Thank you for the vote of confidence. And yeah, I would totally high tail it out of there. And we would have in a hot second had my mother & father freaking BELIEVED us. I was so battered w/ that type of phenomena (if that’s what one wants to call it) that I became very sensitive to that sort of energy. I KNOW if there is a presence in the vicinity.
and you can bet I get my ass the hell out of there and do everything in my power to protect my kids. So far my kids have been spared the trauma that my brothers and I experienced.
Oh, and to clearify my possition on the subject, I don’t think that only those who have experimented with drugs see these images.
I believe that one’s brain has a lot to do with it (traumatic experiences, believing strongly enough in something so you make it true) along with other possible physical explanations (swamp gasses that many around here have mistaken for a girl who was dragged to death by a truck…).
As vivid as our minds can make our dreams when we’re sleeping, I don’t doubt that our brains can create images when we believe in something strongly or are scared enough.
I also think that some people’s minds may be able to tap into these self made hallucinations easier than others.
The effects of some drugs may help to ‘unlock’ that ability of the brain in those who aren’t able to do it on their own.

Tell that to most of the country. I mean, I, as a Catholic, can believe that there is some guy up in the heavens pulling strings, blessing countries, and deciding things, is it really so hard to believe that there are other things going on?
This irritates me when people say this. I have had a couple of very strange experiences, that cannot be explained by any rational logic. If you believe in angels and God, you have to believe in demons and Satan. It is similar to Blake’s duality theory (man I have been talking about him alot lately) and the duality of man. If you believe in one, the opposite has to make sense also. As a Catholic, I have to say I believe in all of it. Even though the Church won’t admit it, there are many things goin on…
I am from Burlington, CT and our town has a very famous ghost named, The Green Lady. A long time ago, her husband murdered her and threw her corpse into a swamp behind their house. This swamp is still on a dirt road in the country, and late at night she has been seen wandering around. She has been documented many times, some people even claim to have her on film.
The legend says that if you go to the cemetary (one of the oldest in the state) with your girlfriend she will be possessed by the Green lady and try to scratch your eyes out in defense/revenge.
What is even more freaky is that the cemetary is only meters away from an altar where a cult used to perform rituals. Well, only after a boy scout camp closed it doors…

Thank you for another riveting (and useless) post.[/quote]
You’re welcome. Hopefully it helped you get over the irrational and completely ridiculous fears the rest of us shed when we were 12. In the meantime I’ll try to come up with with a post as useful as you telling us all how “creepy” the monsters in your closet are.

yawn Oh wow, two in a row. I’m sure your parents are very proud. Very typical of posts I’ve seen from you - pop in, offer pointless jibes and saunter off. Internet tough guys like you are fairly amusing - everyone is a rockstar behind the safety of their keyboard.
If you don’t buy it, super. Knock yourself out. No idea why you would suddenly jump in on a thread like this to just basically be a troll is beyond me.

That’s the funny thing - the Church sort of hints at it and seems to beat around the subject but rarely comes out to discuss it very directly. While at the one time they will be training priests in exorcisms, on the other hand, they never really admit that actual exorcisms take place. Never quite grasped the rationale for that.
