Lifting earlier had its ups and downs. Fatigue from work has really got me beat up.

Its been hot as hell up here in NH. I can’t imagine how hot it’s been down where you are. I don’t know how you can work outside all day then work out. I’m sure I couldn’t do it.

I have to say the intense heat and humidity kick my ass but one must fight on.

Lifting today showed me how work has really taken my training to a different level. My cardio is now excellent but fatigue has knocked my strength levels to a low I haven’t experienced for many years. I am 20 lbs lighter than my optimal bodyweight for powerlifting and I am a bit heartbroken. I am trying to figure out how to remedy my situation and I will most likely not compete again until I do.

I think I may start squatting every day starting with lighter weights and benching too. Then I will throw in an OHP or dead lifts session in a few times a week. I am going to keep the lifting short in duration and build up a strong base again.

One word…Tacos! You need tacos! I just don’t think a 405 raw squat is anything to be ashamed of. :slight_smile:

Thanks ChickenLittle but when I’m used to squatting in the mid to upper 500s leading up to a contest you can see how I’m a bit bummed. Maxing out at 470 right now is just getting me all fired up to get my ass in gear.

You’re pressing 230 and deadlifting 500 in mid August outside in central Florida and you think the S on your chest is falling off? If it’s the weight issue, try eating more eggs and dairy; chocolate milk in moderation.

Probably in the best shape of your life right now.

Yeah biker I’m just pissed and grumpy so I’m eating more tacos and thinking about how to get to where I want without bursting into flames under the Florida sun.

I can sense your frustration.

But you can’t drop 20 (legitimate – not water cut) pounds and expect to keep your strength at the same level. Have you looked at your competitiveness at a lighter weight class?

Yeah Snap but it’s hard to get my mind wrapped around completing so much lighter and lifting so much lighter. I will.
Figured out today that I’m walking between 12 and 20 miles a day at Costco depending on the shift and volume of customers per day. This plus my lawn business makes for a hell of cross training.

OG yeah it’s all fun and when you add in pulling and pushing the carts it’s even more fun.
Biker I’d like to think I even though I’m too old to join I would ace any service. Sometimes I think the Marines would be an easier life.
