Anyway…still looking for my first full meet total. Started the march today.
Olympic ass to floor squats: built up from bar to 300lbs for about 5 sets of triples. My hamstrings were literally hitting my calves on these. I bombed out of my last meet because I did not “just squat”…I beat myself mentally. Need to work on that and just “let go” before I descend next time in competition.
I wonder if sometimes people think I’m a bitch because I hammer so hard on squat depth. But I lift USAPL and know how damn strict those judges can be. To me, it’s kind of a badge of honor to get a decent total with that fed because the standards are so, so high. So when someone says they’re competing USAPL, I follow their log closely and give a lot of feedback because I truly want them to succeed.
I bet you’ll have a great meet in May! I’ll be following.
It ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward, that’s how winning is done!! Cause if you’re willing to go through all the battling you gotta go through to get to where you want to get, who’s got the right to stop you?? It’s your right to listen to your gut, it ain’t nobody’s right to say NO after you earn the right to be where you wanna be and do what you wanna do. Now if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth, but you gotta be willing to take the hits! -Rocky Balboa
HARA-I have to say, I really liked your attitude after the last meet, and I think it says a lot about your overall character and understanding of the big picture. I’m excited to follow along on your journey.

Earning my long weekend in Mexico. Leave Thursday, heavy lifting till then. Tomorrow I break in my safety squat bar!
BTW, who knew there was so much drama outside of “Over 35”!!
With these SSB squats, are they a stand alone exercise in itself or used mainly as an assistance for the back squat as I imagine it puts more pressure on your upper back. Nice work, I believe steel gym had a SSB so when we squat Ill try it.
Speed reverse band press
45,135,185,225,255,255,255,275,285,295 all for 3
4 board press
295,305,305, all for 5
DB front raises 3x15
DB setaed cleans 2x15
ITYs 3x10
Tricept pushdowns 3x30
Matty, guys use SSB as an assist for squats and as a replacement for back squats if they have bad shoulders and can’t get in tight. It tries to dump you forward…you’ll feel it in your lower back.
