Gun Love Thread

Pretty happy with how this turned out.

Thatā€™s one of the better jobs Iā€™ve seen.

Thanks man been practicing on some old gear.

Nice, clean borders and straight lines. Looks good brother.

Thanks took some trial and error before I found what works. Still doesnā€™t hold a candle to some of the work some do but Iā€™ll take it over the original grip.

Did you use a soldering iron or woodburner? Did you play with any of the other tips?

I have a project gun Iā€™ll get to eventually. I was going to use a bigger square tip and it gives a real aggressive stipple.

I used a weller wood burner. Taped the edges and used a flat tip against the tape for the borders and the thinnest tip for the rest. I messed around with some of the other tips that were more aggressive but just didnā€™t like the look of it.

Hereā€™s a closer pic of the border

This probably wonā€™t interest most of you, but where I live I canā€™t have a scary black rifle. A pistol on the other hand, is just fine. And a pistol that accepts a Sig Arm Brace is ok as well. A MSRP of $850 makes this thing very interesting to me as well. Thirty round mags are $18.

Things get good at 2:30 and then more gooder at 5:50.

I love this steel flip target! The guy I bought it from at the Richmond Gunshow said this model is good for .308 - .50 BMG. I donā€™t know about the .50 but my m14 makes it jump nicely. Also, when it flips, the target is always facing you head on.

The multi-colored paper stickers also exploded into colorful confetti, but I used up all the paper stick on targets that came with it. I can probably buy more, but Iā€™ll probably just use brightly colored duct tape.

What!

Canā€™t have in MAā€¦ Unless it weights less than 50oz, which I assume it doesnā€™t, but havenā€™t looked, because I def doesnā€™t have loaded chamber indicator or 10lbs trigger.

Talk me out of this optic guys:

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/479551/redfield-battlezone-rifle-scope-6-18x-44mm-tac-moa-reticle-matte

(Will wait for a sale though. Not spending more than $250 on it.)

Application?

If itā€™s for your rifle, Iā€™d get this one and it even comes with free rings:

Bench shooting. 50-200 yards for now.

Only issue with a 10 power is my eyes. I have pretty shit vision for a relatively young dude, and it gets worse every year (a whole lot of fine focus needed at my job and my eyes wear out fast.)

Iā€™ve seen that optic recommended a bunch of times, and am leaning on putting one on my 10/22 to be honest. The 10 power will be fine for me 100 yards and under, which is where I stay with the 22.

Edit: certainly going to miss that sale.

I just donā€™t think Iā€™ll be able to group at 200 with a 10x magnification. I get that everyone says clarity > magnification, but if I canā€™t see, lol, I canā€™t see.

Your eyes are not bad; they are dry, like anyone who makes a living working indoors in front of a computer.

This becomes more apparent when you try to keep your eyes open. Eye drops, water, and fish oil. And more water.

I shot a lot with optics in Afghanistan/Iraq. My constant companion was Systane ā€“ note I wrote ā€œSystane.ā€ Not Visine or any of that thin crap. You want the oily, thick, stuff.

I just ordered the 6 power one for my M14, which I have been hunting with. Some might say thatā€™s a little under powered for a .308 but I wonā€™t be shooting over 200 yards anyway.

The fuck is wrong with me lol? You can actually see a target at 200 yards with 6 power?

I mean, say it was a 12ā€™ circle, it wouldnā€™t look like a tiny blob covered by the mildot to you?

Probably, but Bambiā€™s dad is a little bit bigger than that. Plus I was banging that steel flip target at 100 yards open sights, and the circle is about 6". I figure 6x has got to be a step up from open sights.
