I’m on the hunt for a 1911. I’d like to stay under $1000. Any thoughts?
I would look for a used one. It won’t lose value as soon as you walk out of the store and if you’re persistent you can catch a great deal. I’ve made two deals off of Armslist.com and highly recommend that site. There are scammers there, just like anywhere, and I would definitely be familiar with your state and federal laws and not have anything to do with anyone not willing to obey the letter of the law.
Looks great Maiden. By the way the one you did for me is still rocking. Grip is shaved down just enough to stop the annoying glock point of aim, and the texture has been fantastic this summer during USPSA shoots. With the zev trigger kit I have in it, it’s running faster than I am. I’m thinking on finding a full sized and having the grip cut down to 19 size.
I second Gabby. Also be patient, the 1911 market is depressed at the moment as the political scare has individuals looking at higher capacity. So there are shops out there looking to consolidate stock that has been sitting. Finally, know that as long as it is a true 1911 design, not a sig, then you can upgrade springs and other parts as you go. That said I have my eye on a Turnbull at the moment.
Good to hear man! the texture really does make a difference on long hot days like a uspsa shoot good to know its working well for you.
Get one in 9mm. Great guns. Save up a bit. I know a guy that just got one of the new colt competitions in 9mm. It needed $100 in trigger work but in the end great shooter for a decent price.
