Good Cardio

For my cardio workout today I did low weight squats with only a 1:00 rest in between sets. The entire workout looked like this:

Only 1:00 rest in between each set:

LifeCycle-2 miles (6:53)

Free Squats-50
95lbs.-20
135lbs.-20
135lbs.-20
135lbs.-20
135lbs.-20
Free Squats-50

LifeCycle-4 miles (14:15)

Total of about 35:00 up to this point, at which point I stopped the heart rate monitor.

Wobble Board-5:00

Stretch-10:00

Average Heart Rate for the 35:00 workout=136

While I have had my average heart rate far higher than 136 during most cardio sessions. I feel that the speed in which I performed the squats will help drive my actual squat workouts to new highs.

It also teaches my legs to work with lactic acid more efficiently.

Do any of you have any ideas on how I can improve this type of workout? Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks for reading my post,

Zeb

How about 1 min/90 seconds of CV between sets of squats?

I use a similar approach when doing abs/core

2 min CV
Planks
2mins CV
Horse
2 mins CV
Swiss ball crunches
2 mins CV
Dorsals

and so on.

Makes both CV and Ab training much more interesting!

Postman,

Great suggestion, thanks!
