Getting Rid of My Cell Phone?

My boss doesn’t have a cell phone and he’s a billionare. He just uses mine if he wants to make a call and we are together  He doesn’t like people to be able to get ahold of him. I just don’t answer mine. This way I still have it if my motorcycle breaks down and I need someone to get me. It’s happened before.

I was about to post something along the lines of what Angry Chicken said. I always read what you have to say Jon because you’er direct and eloquent in the points you make in any given topic. It belies an intelligence and confidence that seems to contradict the hints your give concerning your actions in “real life”. I’m also perplexed by this contradiction.

I don’t want to psycho-analyze you or anything but I think you should keep the phone and be confident and open with the people who’ve gotten close enough to earn your friendship.

That being said 92 bucks a month is retarded for what you need. Get a cheaper plan for 20-30 bucks a month.
Oh I am the same in real life, except at work where I smile alot, otherwise everything I say is the same. I’m kind of surprised I haven’t gotten in trouble at work but people seem to like straight up people that don’t clutter you with run arounds. No matter though, doesn’t change the fact I constantly contradict myself as a person just being me. I don’t know why either…

Oh you want a happy point, a girl at the gym today who’s creeped at me while I’ve lifted commented about my shoes today, just grinned and mumbled something then walked away. Haha human contact outside of work. Disrupting the threads of life.

I can’t get a cheaper plan though. I have AT&T and I have the lowest plan available with unlimited data and texting. I was thinking of getting rid of data but it’s only a $10 difference and if I get rid of texting that means I’d have to talk and I hate being on a phone. But I don’t want to get charged insanely either. It’s so dumb.

To be honest, i don’t remember what the reception was like. I do know that i personally wouldn’t go back, but it might be the best option for you though. I currently have a verizon cell and i’ve never had any issues.
I guess reception doesn’t really matter, seeing as I’d hopefully use it for texting, I assume you can use minutes or something to text right. Probably, ah idk, nothing stresses me out except this kind of stuff.

Billionare, what a sweet word. Well he is probably sure busy he’d get swarmed with calls, I have the opposite, just wasting money but I feel like if I don’t have one then if somebody does need to have me work for them or something they won’t be able to. But then if they text me about just hanging out or about life, it’s like “…” and then work is all weird with them because they see I am flesh and bone, no color.

ZOMG JONEIGHTPACKGUY IS DEXTER!1!1!!1!

Seeing as I am a totally uneducated on the matter I diagnose you with social anxiety disorder and I prescribe anti-anxiety pills.

I also think you sound like a cool dude, if maybe a little uptight.
Get a cheaper plan for emergencies only.

Jon if you’re ever up in Canadia land hit me up with a PM

Just get a prepaid phone. My family, we don’t pay for a home phone now. We just have cell phones.

have you considered boostmobile? they piggyback off of the sprint network (or verizon, one of the big companies) so the reception/coverage is decent enough and the unlimited[text/web/phone] monthly cost is 50 a month after taxes.

in addition, there is no contract, its a month by month thing.

i also hate being tethered to technology/too accessible , but as the others have mentioned, in the rare occasion that an emergency might happens it’s good to have an option.

I’ve always wanted to get rid of my phone too. I absolutely hate talking to people on the phone and calls from unknown numbers weird me out. But, I still need to keep in touch with people who love their phones and I’m going into a field where I’ll be on call and need a phone handy…so gotta keep it for now, or at least until I move to some tropical island with my riches

I’ll throw my hat in the ring here. #1 I also dream that I could just get rid of my cell, I hate people reaching out and touching me all day long. Now granted, I do like if my friends drop a text, like Going out to the bar tonight, get at me if you want in. or something like that, but if I got rid of the phone they could just text to my e-mail. I’m a very social person, but for some reason I just don’t like talking on the phone.

With regard to Jon being dexter, I think it’s just a matter of him having not found anyone to relate to. I am sure if a T-Nation member lived in his area, they could hang out and “get eachother” and he would feel better about being out in the social world, especially if they went out together. Having a friend out with you enhances ones social ability. You are more comfortable because you always have that fallback, so you will reach out more and be a little braver. I know my own social inhibitions are directly related to how many of my friends are out at the bar or whatever.

Jon, sit tight and look for people who may be like you, you are going to have to take a chance or two, finiding another quiet person in the gym, making a comment that they will understand, one that will identify you as someone like them. At that point you just take it from there. I’ll leave it at that, if you want to chat more, hit me with a PM.

Jon,

Just curious why you have unlimited texting too? You could drop to less texts and save $10ish a month. Removing the data and you dropped your bill by at least $20. You do a lot of texting?

I just wantd to hop in here and say Jon is one of my favorite posters.

Do you have a landline? If so you could lose he cell. If not, then you could switch.

You say that to everyone.

I thought I was special.

I don’t have a cell phone. But I’m an introvert like Jon. Don’t be like me!

do you do something that causes you to be this paranoid? if you dont have anything to worry about, there is no need for that kind of paranoia. i dont like talking on the phone either, but i do my fair share of texting. i think sprint has plans for like 60 bucks with unlimited data and text.

I would definitely get a prepaid cell. They are cheap and you will definitely need a phone at some point. As far as you not wanting to answer the phone,Its actually a phobia. It probably stems from a traumatic event or extreme stress from work etc…anything related to having to answer/talk on the phone.
I had it for years. My dad was diagnosed with cancer when I was Ten, overheard it when my mom was on the phone…ten years of alot of bad news over the phone.

Sometimes when something bad was happening Id start shaking and hyperventilating when the phone rang (like when my dad had a stroke). My family is definitely blessed because my dad is in good health today after a long time of serious medical issues. So in the last year or two the anxiety of using the phone is gone.

I think it’s smart to get rid of it, apparently there have been reports of cell phones actually murdering people.

It’s a metaphor for a crap movie. I mean, really, why would a mobile phone kill anyone?

The government is most likely listening in on your cell phone conversations.

You should become more reclusive and only fap to hard copy porn.
