Getting Newbie Gains Again

Sorry if I may sound a bit like a novice but I was wondering if one could gain lean mass like a beginner again after a hiatus(which I highly doubt). I just feel I didn’t capitalize on my potential when I first started: poor eating habits, sleeping hours, etc.

To start I still consider myself a beginner with a measly gain of 15 lbs since I first started. I first started lifting about and year ago and with a few months figuring out the ropes.
