Germany Bans Cruise

Imagine that…

Germany being intolerant

Give the continental Europeans some time. This whole “individual freedom” thing hasn’t had much time to take root. Remember that Germany is a country where the government actually needs a warrant to listen to your phone calls, search your house, has to hand you a receipt of what they took from there, needs a judges warrant to look into your bank accounts and dealings with the post office, library etc, cannot listen in when you are talking to your lawyer, priest, therapist or doctor, nor can it search their offices, does not kidnap or torture people, does not put civilians in front of military tribunals…

Pretty decent country, actually…

Haven`t started a war in decades either…

As does the US unless you are a terrorist and then we have a different method of oversight for these things that does not involve civilian courts.

Interesting opinion you have on German State and Police powers. Not accurate but certainly interesting.

It is indeed interesting that most people who in this thread are so stridently about “freedom of religion” have been the biggest apologizers of torture in previous disscussions, including Zap.

Theres no question that this movie, like any other hollywood flick about historical events, will butcher the truth. Additionally this movie will have americans playing ww2 germans, which makes one fear the worst.

Because thats a very important event of German history the defense ministry should never support this production or even spend my tax money on it.

“We”? You dont mean the US with “we” do you? In both world wars the american share of victory against germany is 5-10%. Of course people whos only source of education are hollywood movies dont know that, thats for certain.

Sorry that was off-topic, but i dont know how many zillion times ive read in the internet how an american played the “we saved your asses twice” card against an european.

Whoha. Actually that single case cause a huge media outcry. You want me to post random stuff about the human rights violations that happen in the US every single day?

The silence of the usual suspects speaks volumes and judge Napolitano seems to disagree with you.

Since the subject of legal definitions seems to come up every now and then, your lawyer is now a “financial instituation”…

Half of this is speculation and wishful thinking of rightwingers, some is outdated and most of all these police men either had a warrant or are still under the rule of law and can be held accountable.

None of what I posted is speculation, that is what your government does on a daily basis.

If the FBI wants to see your medical, legal and financial records you will never ever know unless of course they find something to indict you, which is oh so easy given the myriad of laws out there.

Awwww is the euroweenie upset again? Too bad. Sounds like you can level misguided criticism but can’t really discuss a subject close to home without falling behind the usual “but it’s all the Americans doing”.

Does it ever get old for your type…I mean really don’t you bore yourself sometimes?

Yes I mean the US as “we”. Wasn’t that clear in my post. IS it now? 5-10%, let me guess you were educated in the Soviet Union or France?

Why do you assume you are better educated then me, particularly about military history? I’m curious are you projecting Ken?

I don’t really give a flying fuck what you post to be honest. We are talking about Germany restricting the filming of a movie because it has a Scientologist in the lead. If the basis of your argument argument is to post “random human rights violations that occur in the U.S. everyday” I can see this will be a short discussion and a rather dull one for me.

By the way if you google German Police powers it returns about 1500 entries. I posted one. Feel free to read the others.

Besides Orion made a trite and borish comment as befits his Austrian roots and I simply responded in kind.

So once you two get over the comical and predictable America bashing, how do you feel about the Germans banning Tommy from shooting his movie on their base?

Um, its the truth. You know, the TRUTH. T R U T H.

…“as befits his Austrian roots”. Im sure youre an expert about Austrians…

I did. I dont want the Bundeswehr and with that my tax money to support a hollywood movie about this subject. Ive already seen enough bad german movies about it…

First Judaism and now Scientology?! Too bad the only way to take this dude down a notch is to discriminate against his religion–horribly lame and exploitative as it is.

It doesn’t even seem he is using he movie as a vehicle to promote Scientology.

To ban someone based on religion (as shady as Scientology may be) seems to be a pretty serious infringement on civil rights.

[/quote]

Agreed.

Though I can’t say I didn’t laugh when I heard about Cruise getting bitched by Germany… for Scientology.

Why would I be upset? I am a free citizen in a free country and you are an, um, American.

Once again, what you posted was mostly hearsay and hyperbole, what I posted is undisputed fact.

So “u” actually have nothing to say beyond conjecture and self serving opinion. I think what I actually proved is that you are have no argument and are way out of your league. You are good for a laugh though. Why don’t you tryu making a point next?

Pity the Bundeswehr doesn’t allow them to film at the base. Likely the most action they will ever see with the timidity of the current government. I’m sure the Poles will let them use one of their bases. The Poles like to stick it to the Germans these days, as Merkel recently found out.

Actually I was mistaken earlier, my “insignificant” link was one of 1,440,000 returned and was the most topical at 4th place. Why don’t you think a little harder and try again.

Maybe you would get a warmer reception for your drivel on a Euro site devoted to bodybuilding?

Hey, he is an expert!

We are these mountain dwelling…, um, mountain dwellers and we like yodel a lot and, and…

USA! USA! USA!

That about sums it up.

And “they” kicked “our” asses in WWII.

Meaning their drafted grandfathers were drawn kicking and screaming into a war they never wanted a part of, by a socialist president.

I can clearly see the maculinity and moral superiority that bestows upon their grand-children…

Undisputed fact…seriously Orion, even for you that’s quite a stretch. Did you actually state a fact…perhaps I missed it during the self serving pandering. Propaganda is not fact. Self righteous indignation by cosmopolitan eurotrash is nothing more then gossip.
You actually haven’t stated a fact in this thread, as I am sure you know.

My my you Euroweenies certainly get upset when your called out…must be your lack of self esteem. Again too bad. But then again you are what you are. I am proud to be an American. Your opinion, to me, is meaningless. I know it’s frustrating but we really don’t take Europe seriously these days.

Yes well men like to play with their dicks. Unfortunately you will neve know the pleasure since it seems you seem to have lost your balls a long time ago.

So any opinion about Tom Cruise shooting a movie in Germany. Perhaps if he was Muslim you would lay out the red carpet? Don’t want to offend the guest workers now do we?

What of the above was not true Darling?

Cut the BS, where was I wrong?

Please, enlighten me.

Plus, the very day that 2/3 of my ego stems from the geographic co-incidence of which country I was born into, I will probably kill myself.

Hey, I like the German model. We won’t check your library card, because you’re not allowed to read books about anything potentially dangerous.

They can do every single one of those things that you mentioned in your post in Germany. Do you believe that the government can’t? Are you really that stupid?

Also, Germany (and Austria) can’t start a war not because they’re great guys, but after initiating the largest bloodbaths in the history of history, they had their countries destroyed. Then they were split up and dominated by foreign powers, to a lesser degree in the West and almost entirely in the East.

Nice try.

That’s completely false. From numbers of troops deployed, war materiel supplied, air campaigns, AFVs deployed… That’s so stupid I can’t go on. The US didn’t equal the European contribution of the Soviets, but come on. Get serious. Read a book.
