German Volume

Hi peeps,

I’m doing german volume training right now but i cant do 10x10 dips during the shoulders/arms day so replaced it with military press of 10x10 sets/reps since it also targets the shoulders. Is this alright? Thanks.

I’m no expert but I dont think that the military press is a suitable alternative to dips. I would stick to doing as many dips as you can until you can complete 10X10.

How many can you do now?

I don’t think it’s a good alternative either. They work different muscle groups.

I’ve been using a modified GVT the last few months as well. Don’t think that you have to get 10x10 every time. When you hit 10x10, it’s time to increase weight.

Ex. My bench the other night was 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 9, 9, 7, 8, 9. When I get a full 10 sets of 10, I’ll increase the weight by five pounds.

The military press is not an alternative for dips. Stick with the dips and do as many as you can in the 10 sets. When you work up to 10x10, then you need to get a weight belt or weighted vest.
