Function Over Form: TheTexican's 5/3/1 Log

Deload.

Sucks ass.

Weights won’t be listed.

Warm up

Press/squat and a few chins.

Shoulder mobility and PVC full-body.

30 min walk with 30lb ruck.

Cry in corner and go eat ice cream.

Sooooo… I tweaked my left quad a little squatting. No biggie… Deload will sort it out.

Begin vent/Just had an AMAZING telephone call with the EX fiancée. Gotta love having every little thing you’ve ever done thrown back in your face by a drunk girl at 3 AM. Yeah, I deserved it, but I bet her new BF would love to know she’s still obsessing over it. Man, I love all these relationship games! Not sure why I answered, probably my own fault for even deciding to talk./vent over

So far, been a wonderful day (sarcasm?). Lot’s of prayer before bed and some positive hopes for tomorrow. I can’t wait to hit the platform again!

DELOAD CONTINUES!!! Wanna chop my arm off. This shit is boring as hell…

Walk/warm up

Deadlift/Bench

some curls for the girls

Full body PVC/band stretch with monster-mini

Weighed in at 202. Going to keep doing what I’m doing conditioning wise as my weight will continue to fall just a little and my strength won’t be affeted (hopefully).

NOTES:

Had to purchase some “OTHER” protein from the exchange out here. Optimum Nutrition Hydrobuilder: vanilla. Tastes like booty and fucks up my stomach like none other. I definitely don’t recommend it. It was the ONLY protein left when I went up there and would not have purchased it if my shipment with Metabolic Drive was here. Just gotta wait it out a little bit longer. No other news for now.

Ha-ha, I like how both our logs right now is just us complaining about being on deload.

I have to call it REload. I HATE taking time off. My first year or so, I don’t think I took more than a day off a time. I burned myself out something crazy and had so many injuries. Gotta train smart now that I’m gettin OLDERRRRRR!!! :frowning:

I am on a motivation video kick at the moment and I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to tear myself away from the gym during my stretch/roll and GHR thing tomorrow. We can get through this together. The pain of deload doesn’t last forever!! (see video, lol)

I been on that same motivational kick, also been over training for the last few weeks… mostly cause of this video. But I came up with a better routine starting this week. hope i dont over load.

Have you seen this vid?

I literally just uploaded this one in GAL.

You seem to jump routines a lot. Stay with something for a few months and see how much more progess you’ll be able to meake.

Haha I do jump a lot, good point. thanks. PS… whats GAL, like WMP or real player type shit?

GAL is the Get a Life section of the forums. lol

which is where we should be since its this early in the mourning. lol.

I was pretty excited about the Super-hero workout but I have week knees and it was getting fucking drained from it all together.

It calls for

Each complex targets one of these movement patterns, and you’ll be performing two complexes per day, paired like this:

Day Star Complex A Star Complex B
Monday Overhead Press Squat
Tuesday Deadlift Bench Press
Thursday Squat Overhead Press
Friday Bench Press Deadlift

Its getting a little much with my added MMA training and work - 430-130am schedule. but now that I say it I sound like im being lame an might try to keep it through and see if it works.

I do need to stay on one program . your right

I work from 845pm to 1030am and then train after work; my gym is outside in 90 degree weather. I work three days and get one off, most of the time. I have no control over what I eat two meals a day and have to wear my body armor, ammo, and weapon for my whole shift. I do security work with lots of walking, sometimes running, the occasional wrestle and cuff fun, and am surrounded by idiots. OH, I’m also in one of the top 3 poorest regions in the world and it smells like burning hair and feces most of the day.

Pick a program that fits your goals and lifestyle, not one with a fancy name. (AND) Nut up, bro.

Nothing training wise was conducted. Decided to sleep 18 or so hours today. Recovery?!?! Lol

I have heard good things about Alpha Male.

From an Alpha Male.

hi Texican

Working out in the heat? Ugh!

Yes and nos? Is that a neck exercise? I had to do those if it’s what I think it is. Brutal!

Hiiiiii, CH!!!

Yeah, I kinda like lifting outside. I stay warmer. I really hate gyms that are too cold. Not for me. Texican is a tropical person!!

Neck work makes you tougher. Everyone should do more.

AFRICA? No one complains in Africa.

.

“Legitly” is not a word.

New training cycle starts tonight. 5/3/1 Powerlifting template. Squat, bench, DL, press will be the order of programming.

In the next month, looking forward to:

  1. Using wraps again.

  2. Getting this dreadful Deload over with.

  3. Using wraps again.

  4. Coming back to the states after this training cycle.

  5. Seeing who wants to be awesome and take me out to free dinners when I get back.

Thanks to everyone who’s read along/commented so far. I promise the boring stuff is over with for the next few weeks!!
