… maurader Your doing singles… I didn’t say it couldnt be done… but ill bet your ass if you start repping out a weight over 300 lbs… you would rather have your hands on the bar… Id clap for you but im not even a little impressed… look im not trying to be a dick but this is not a good practice to get in the habit of. Im fairly certain i could do it but when im working reps to damn near failure the last thing im going to worry about is dropping the bar like a dick in the middle of the gym… You keep it up and eventually the aforementioned dick will be you. I know I know not you … wouldnt happen because your ubber strong. LOL
and 4 my friend aint repping

Didn’t you write “When your back gets strong enough and you keep your elbows high it won’t matter what position you use.”?

All i’m going to say is that doing front squats with no hands will really reinforce keeping the chest high and the weight back on your heels. when i teach the front squat i have my guys doing them hands free first to learn where the bar needs to sit. if you are doing a front squat right the hands arent’ really doing anything anyway. it’s more about keeping the elbows high.
you are just showing your true colors by insulting me. and i love when people say they aren’t trying to be a dick becuase they always are.
just accept that there are many ways to do things and reasons for them. keep an open mind.
also… i have straps in MY monolift in case I need to drop the weight in MY gym.
LoL that’s your front squat and you own a gym teehee I wouldn’t go around admitting that…i would just keep
That part to yourself. It’s like saying I own a Bowflex but i can’t really move much weight on it… I just want you to know I can afford one…
You of all people who supposedly trains people to do

If it was Olympic lifters would never use their hands… Rather you wanted to impress us all with your weak ass front squat proving that you can do singles with no hands… Again not impressed… The intent

Did we watch the same video? He was deliberately pausing his reps at the bottom. Meat also clearly had more reps in him, especially if he didn’t pause them.

What? Meat said specifically that when he FIRST TEACHES people how to front squat, he teaches it to them without using hands to reinforce the chest up position. What’s wrong with that? If he’s teaching front squats to people for the first time, what makes you think that they’re using very heavy weight?

I also don’t get when you say his front squat is “weak ass”. There’s a damn good chance that his front squat is stronger than yours. I’ve seen videos of him doing long pauses with 405+, and he’s good for over 500. He hit a 585 front squat to a box too. Certainly not “weak ass”. Check out his youtube channel.

i tell you what… YOU pick the weight and how many reps. we’ll see who has the higher front squat.
i made that video without even knowing this thread existed. My whole point was that it’s good to do them without the hands at times to reinforce good form. maybe front squatting in the 300’s is heavy for you, but it’s not for me. if your form is good the hands don’t do anything. it’s all about bar position and body position. i actually had a guy in the gym today that was attempting to front squat and he had the bar too far forward. i had him get the bar up against his throat and behind his delts and hand out in front. his form improved instantly. he came up and thanked me for the advice as he left.
i love competition… let’s do a set with 405…i’ll do mine with no hands and you can use your hands… let’s see who can do the most. are yuou up for some friendly competition since you seem to insist on calling me weak. no knee wraps of course.

I hope you’re laughing at yourself because you’re an absolute joke!
I’m laughing at the pussy who front squatted 365 for 1 whole rep to prove a point… If you had 405 for reps in you you would have posted it… LoL … No box no wraps full depth I don’t care if you hold a bar or drop it … I’ve seen nothing impressive… Just rhetoric.

i have plenty of vids of me hitting front squats all the way up to 605. i did those paused, hands free front sqauts AFTER i did all my heavy squatting purely as accessory work.
i can squat anytime this week. if you are up for the challenge we’ll see who can do the most reps with 405…no wraps…no box… or if you want to cut to the chase we’ll take the heaviest front squat for a one rep max…no wraps or box.
ready to put your money where your mouth is??
Post your video… Better yet I’ll even give you six months to work your way up to a man size weight… When you do… Let me know. I’ll show you what it’s supposed to look like…

i say again… pick a day next week and we will both hit a max on front squats. the video of course will have either the day’s newspapwer of cell phone date to prove accuracy.
i’m ready right now… i don’t need six months.
if you are going to talk…back it up.
well this got ugly.

Yes, that is me, in case you were wondering.
As has been said, they can be GREAT for teaching people proper setup, but they are hard to do for anything above 5 reps with reasonable weight. I don’t get why you’re acting so offended in this thread about people using hands-free front squats.

this is from a couple months ago. i do front squats as an accessory movement but here’s a 500lb paused front squat.
show me up…and to be honest i would love to see a heavier front squat so that i can go in and hit one as a main movement.
The point was to help someone with their grip… If he uses a no hand grip… Whm it counts he will fail… Dickbag just decided to use it to prove how big his front squat is. . It’s unreasonable to be front squatting hands free on a regular basis period… I already told you post your big squat chubbs and not something from 5 years ago … I don’t care what day and not singles… Reps… You find something you can hit for 10 solid reps… I don’t care how you hold it… I’ll do that and then some. Guaranteed

keep calling me names…it just makes you look worse. i’ve already put the challenge out there. words are just words. it’s funny how 100% of the time those that stoop to name calling and blasting others can never back it up.
i’ll be sure to hit a rep set this coming week on front squats though. i’m SURE i won’t get any response. it will be in my log for everyone to see.
