So my frend has 120lbs of LBM and I have 143. We’re about the same height, but he looks so much more buff than me. He’s 10% fat and I’m 20%, but even considering all the fat covering my muscles I can’t picture looking that big - my biceps are pretty small.
Is it an illusion?
If I cut to his level should I look significantly bigger considering I got 23lbs of muscle more than him?
Here’s some math. If you are 20% bf then your lbm constitutes 80% of your bw therefore you weigh 143 / 0.8 or 178ish lbs. similarly your friend weighs 120 / 0.9 or 133ish lbs
I don’t know how tall either of you are but if the situation you describe is really accurate I doubt any of the estimates you gave are correct

Yes. Leaner people look more muscular. If you’re in this forum because you want to grow big muscles, then you need to stop worrying about that for at least a few years.
