Free Weights vs. Machines - Help!

I need any articles, links, or ANY source of information that list the benefits of both and why free weights are better.

I need this for a term paper and i need the help of all the T-Nationers. I need it like now, like within 24 hours

Also… and I’m not inventing the idea but I can’t remember seeing it - a free weight exercise stresses the entire body as a supporting mechanism.

It depends upon the goal. Free weights are not always better than machines. In some instances, machines may be better, especially for bodybuilders.

This is very true. Also, the type of machine matters as some equipment is better then others, and also wheter you would perform compound or isolation movement.

I would say that doing machine Squats, Rows and Presses is far better than doing Curls, Kickbacks, and Flyes with free weights.

But, I also believe that machines are not neccessary and that you can reach your goals, whether BB or strenght with free weights only.

Check “The Evil Scot” by Alwyn Cosgrove, I think he mentioned something about machines (most likely negative). Also go to Joe DeFranco’s website, he bashes H.I.T and machines pretty good.

Weighted bodyweight is the best for fighting… i dont know if that’ll help our not
