Forearm Strain Rehabilitation

Had forearm strains a few years back. Eccentric negatives with extremely light weights helped me. Basically started with 5lb dumbells, used the other hand to help curl it up not using the arm holding the DB at all, then let it down SLOWLY for 15 reps. Did this whenever I could throughout the day (had adjustable DB set at home). Eventually was able to add weight until the stubborn tendon eventually healed to the point I could curl regularly again. There should be some articles about it floating around the interwebs

thanks for commenting, yes it is the lower bicep tendon having tendonitis. More of what I am getting it, should the chiropractor be causing pain at the same time as treating it?

Personally, I would be highly skeptical of the efficacy of a laser treatment for a tendon injury. When I was dealing with this a light massage would help loosen the area temporarily and provide more blood flow to the area to aid in healing. Any heavy probing leaving you in pain seems counterproductive.

the saga continues
AAAGGGHHH!!

I just had my 4th session with a Bachelor of physiotherapy. She has given me 4 acupuncture treatments, and generally told me to baby it. She has also probed the area, although much gentler. In fact I am surprised she can notice anything, but maybe I don’t know. She at times gradually stretches the area with her fingers on one part, then another, and says she is releasing tightness, sort of what she said.

Two of the acupuncture points HURT, one on the first day, the other today. It was just about an hour ago and I can’t pronate my hand without it outright hurting. She asked me at the end if when I bend my arm it feels better than the beginning of the session, I agreed, but I hope this other pain goes away by morning.

She also has had me doing bicep curls, 3 X 10 at 2.5lb, and wants me to progress to 5lbs before next week.

So you’ve gone to a hospital, seen a chiropractor, and an undergraduate degree. At what point are you going to go to a primary care physician, get an MRI, and go to a sports physio who’s actually a doctor? Lots of people put stock in chiropractors. I think they’re okay for maintenance, and useless for actual injuries. Hospitals don’t give a fuck about anything except getting you out the door with a pill in your hand, and an undergraduate physiotherapist is just a college kid who has yet to do the real work required to be a physio. Someone is missing something.

I went to my new GP a while back and said that since I have had this since bloody whenever that I need a referral to a medical doctor physio. I was told I just had to find someone myself, on my own dime.

You’re in the UK? I know very little of the health system over there, so I can’t offer you any advice besides try a new new GP if that’s even an option. My GP ordered an MRI for me before I even went to a specialist.
