Well here goes…again. I dabbled on the site about a year ago, soon after my daughter was born. But I never committed or did anything with it. One year older and I want to do something!
I’m 32, a mother, a wife, with a full-time career and starting part-time classes next month. I’ve never been overweight and have an innate enjoyment of healthy foods (though I eat inconsistently and infrequently so definitely need to be re-educated and re-wired!). Exercise has always consisted of cardio and dancing - nothing else.
My husband has been trying to get me to strength train and rethink my perceptions of exercise since we met. Now is when it clicked. Better late than never! He starts the V-Diet on New Year’s Day and I will embark on my own little fitness/lifestyle-changing journey the same day.
I chose the V-Tixen Beginner’s Workout since I’m a total newbie with the whole weight thing. I am actually excited. Want to feel better, look better, and be a good example to my daughter. I’ve been LAZY but enough is enough! It’s never going to be “easy” or the “right time” to start - so why not now? I will post before pics soon and look forward to the support the site has a reputation for. Thanks all!
My wife and I were jacked when we got married… She would walk down the street and people were always honking at her, etc… She worked out with me in the gym for the first time ever doing weights (when we first started dating she was a cardio/dance junkie only), but she wanted to be hot for when we got married and went on our honeymoon…
Then our daughter was born and I had a rude awakening into the time dedicated to little ones… The first thing that went was the gym, the next the diet… Add 2.5 years and the birth of our son and I had no time for nothing…
Eventually I was with a bunch of co-workers and someone took a picture of us all… When I saw what I looked like in the photo, that’s all it took…
I decided to “make time” to get healthy again… I woke up early, started work early, made arrangments with my boss to take no coffee breaks and just combine them into my lunch so I get a full hour, plus whatever “extra” time I have from starting early and throw that in there too… Usually gives me around an hour and 15 to an hour and half to work out…
I prep all my food ahead of time and do all my veggie slicing and dicing with the kids… My daugher is hooked on scrambled eggs and handfulls of cuccumbers and celery for breakfast, or will switch it up to oatmeal and veggies for breakfast… Heck, both kids come RUNNING when they hear the blending and I’m whipping up some protein shakes (they’re BIG fans of the chocolate flavour with cashew nuts and peanut butter mixed in)… Heck my kids nearly beg me to grill up some salmon, cooked on a cedar plank and veggies… Crazy!!!
It’s never too early to set a good example for you kids… Especially with the obesity problem afflicting children today due to a complete void of physical activity and healthy eating instilled by their parents…
Set some short term (1 month, 3 months, 6 month) ATTAINABLE goals and then work towards them…
I look forward to watching your hubby and your progress…
I appreciate you wanting to change for the better, but don’t even bother posting before pictures. It’s easy to start exercising. Many people do start but soon quit. Post some pictures when you’ve actually accomplished something; it will actually mean something then.
