For Computer People: Avatars

Question:

There are a couple of GREAT avatars (those small pictures you can have placed on your post on some sites) that I would like large prints of.

Who tends to hold the copyrights to these pictures? THANKS!

Well, Mufasa: depends (on copyrights). If you get the artwork directly from the artist’s site - it’s more than likely the artist (that holds the copyrights). If you get it from a site that just carries a variety of spots (short for “spot art”), then this site can carry the artwork.

I wouldn't worry too much about it - only if you're using the art in a way to promote another product, then I'd contact the artist. I know what you're talking about, I go to another forum that is all about comic books and art - and there are creative pros that regularly post and use other artists' work for avatars.
