Not the best food porn photo, was too hungry. Anyway, I ran past this restaurant called “Fresh First” during my long run. When I was done, I drove back and got an egg sandwich, which happened to be on a waffle. So there’s a fried egg in there, with a big juicy tomato slice. I saw tons of those egg sandwiches on everyone’s plates. Seems to be one of their specialties. Turns out the place is a “gluten free, peanut free, dairy free” eatery + juicery (?? lol).

They seem pretty legit, ingredients were high quality and it tasted great. Those mashed potatoes on the side were incredible too.

^^ Also, i’ve been wanting to get some waffles and do something similar… This motivated me to try out some other ideas i’ve been thinking about.

Prime tenderloin was on sale at Costco, so I pulled the trigger and splurged on the Dee-luxe meat…
Bleu cheese broiled over top; served with red wine Demi, asparagus with garlic and pimentos, and roasted baby potatoes.

A question about butters- I’ve tried Kerrygold (Irish) and thought it was just -meh. Nothing great.

Amish butter- really liked. Added a nice smooth buttery taste, nothing crazy but nice.

Now I have this Finlandia. Tried a couple blobs in my coffee. Kinda like it.

So I’m wondering, does anybody think this stuff is worth it, just meh, or its all pretty much the same?

I’m leaning toward all pretty much the same, but admittedly, my palette is not very refined.

I’d recommend going with unsalted butter… The manufacturers can get away with using lower quality cream with the salted because they can cover up a large portion of the funk with salt. With unsalted: there’s nowhere to hide. My favorite butters are from Normandy (isigney st mer) and Italy (burra reggiano(?), from the water buffalo that they make parm reggiano cheese from). French butters are usually sold as a “log” or cylinder. The Italian stuff is in a paper “envelope” and is a slab.

Yesterday: I had egg/veggie fried rice with avocado, but decided to take a photo of desert instead. Caramel banana gelato milkshake and a roasted coconut chocolate at a french pastry spot.

Finally, today! 4 x egg sandwich on toasted ciabata bread. The bread was “soaked” with spanish olive oil, black pepper, pink salt, and 2 bananas worth of banana slices → toasted then put the eggs in it. Was really good.

From today. Hit up some place called “Farmer’s Table”. Solid spot, interesting menu, beautiful outside seating.

Also, I tried to take a photo of the outside seating, and ended up catching a shot of this couple on the right, who I was observing throughout my meal. The girl seemed annoyed, bored, etc, while her man was fiddling on his phone the entire time. It was really weird. During my occasional glances, never once did I catch them speaking. lmao. I think this photo captures it perfectly. smh.

I personally don’t use my phone when i’m out with people, other than to take a food photo and then put it away. eheh.

Brunch experiment today. Result: SUCCESS. This tasted unreal. These Belgian waffles were so damn good (I got them at Whole Foods). I recreated the egg sandwich I had at “Fresh First” a few weeks ago, but did it my way. I actually enjoyed mine more, though i’ll try a few variations soon (like theirs: which is tomato, fried egg, and I forget what else → but not “fruity” like the one I had today). Oh plus I honey’d it up on the inside of the waffle.

Belgian waffle egg sandwiches with blueberries, raspberries, and banana slices.

Toasted the belgian waffles & cooked the eggs separately. When the waffles were done, put the banana/blueberries/raspberries on them, then honey, then finally the carved out egg patties. Then smashed the two halves together.

Also! To make very circular egg patties, I cooked the eggs together - prescrambled. Then when they were done, I took a drinking glass and carved out 4 circular slices. Worked really well hah.
