Floridians

Just seeing how many of you guys are from Florida and where about

I work in Tampa, live in Zephyrhills.

Work in St. Pete, live in Parrish (just outside of Bradenton).

I live up in Palatka.

Tampa

Clearwater

Tallahassee.

Though it’s more like Georgia here than anything I’d consider florida.

I live in Winter Haven–over by Lakeland.

Boca

Margate

I live in Tallahassee, but right now I’m in Ft. Lauderdale working on a campaign. I’ll be back to S. Georgia Nov. 8th.

Hey guys,

I live in Pembroke Pines FL. I’ve been experiencing some discomfort in my back area, possibly Kidneys when using Creatine. I’ve made an effort to drink lots of water when taking it, but the discomfort persist.

Is there anything else out there that someone can recommend using that’s just as good as creatine?

A couple of thoughts for you…

From here:

Conclusions: Neither short-term, medium-term, nor long-term oral creatine supplements induce detrimental effects on the kidney of healthy individuals.

So the chances of the creatine causing the problem are very small. I’d see a doctor specializing in sports medicine and tell him about your creatine use and your concerns. Kidney health is serious business and I would personally consider the cost of the doctor’s visit cheap compared to how much peace of mind is worth to me.

No and yes.

Nothing else works biochemically the same way that creatine does but exactly how creatine helps increase muscle mass is not well understood. I’m leaving a lot of stuff out here but most trainers and athletes feel it helps delay fatigue and so you can train harder with it and that it helps in recovery and that also helps you train harder. In other words, it isn’t really the creatine per se, it’s the harder training that leads to gains for bodybuilders.

So are there other things that can help you train harder? Absolutely. Number one is nutrition. Are you well educated about nutrition and are you careful about your pre-workout, during workout, and post-workout nutrition? Are you eating six times a day? If not, you can probably improve a lot and that will definitely help you train harder. Here’s a great article to see what I mean:

Proper recovery is an area often overlooked, especially the fact that your neurotransmitter levels need to recover or you won’t get maximum muscle performance. Here’s a great article by Dr. John Berardi that spells out clearly what to do for maximum recovery:

Bottom line… if you’re training at an elite level with elite level nutrition and elite level recovery and using creatine, then nothing is going to replace the creatine. If you’re not training at an elite level with elite level nutrition and elite level recovery, then it is entirely possible that improving your training, nutrition and recovery will do more for you than using creatine does with less than optimum training, nutrition and recovery.

Thanks for all the information that you’ve provided. I’m sure the articles that you’ve sent will be very helpful. No, I don’t eat six times a day and I don’t take my workouts as serious as I should. I have realized that a lot of people on this site are very knowledeable on Nutrition, Supplements and working outs. I am new to this forum and very happy that I’ve found this site.

I did go to my family physician and he ran some tests and said there was nothing wrong and simply said to stop taking Creatine, and of course I wasn’t very happy with that. It’s been about six months since I haven’t taken any creatine. I’m starting to wonder if I’ve purchase some cheap Creatine from GNC and other Supplement Stores, or maybe I definitely was not drinking enough water.
Thank you for all your help,
Phil.

Dude, if you don’t take these things serious then it begs the question- What do you think creatine is giong to do for you anyway?
