For those of you that prefer to grind flax seeds instead of adding flax oil to your diet I have a question. How many calories are there in a tablespoon of flax seeds or what quantity of seeds equals a tablespoon of oil?
My conversion is 1 tbsp. ground flaxseeds equals 1 tsp. oil. The ground stuff adds a few more calories, though, as it has about 1.5g protein per tbsp.
Funny, I was running the calculations on flaxseed just tonight. According to my nutritional desk reference, 1 ounce of flaxseed equals 140 kcal, 5g carbs, 5g protein, 10g fat. 2 tablespoons equals one ounce.
Is that the effective carb count, or is the fiber count? I’ve seen that 2 tbsp. contains about 8g fiber. Thanks.
