Consider that perhaps you should be happy with just the 250mg test per week your doc gave you as TRT @ 6 feet 185 lbs and 16% bf.
( sounds like generous doctor ). For sure, even 250mg test per week does make difference for most males in 40's with 2 years lifting experience. Even bulking wise. I think your doctor will drop the doze down after next labs.
I don't wanna sound like an asshole, but perhaps just cut more first, do clean food bulk when you get lower bf and build more base after.
You propably think since you're "already" 40 you can do short cut but i wouldn't recommend it based solely on your current stats.
The road is always the same for all regardless of age.
With your plan you had, all you will gain is little muscle, lots of water, more fat for certain because you have to eat a lot 'cause that's like the most important thing in bulking no matter what. You have to take the fat away anyway and it's safe assumption that you can end up looking worse than you started off and get caught in a limbo.
