First Cut Advice

I am thinking about starting my first cut next week and am wondering if my plan is good or if I should wait longer before I cut. I have been bulking since college started(8 weeks) and have gained about 18 pounds(179 to 195). A lot of it has been muscles because my 6-pack is still visible, but I have gained enough fat that it is noticeable.

Here are my stats.
6 feet tall 195 pounds
325 dead lift
295 squat
245 bench
160 OHP
195 Power clean
(all within the past 2 weeks)

My plan for cutting is following follow John Berardi’s Get Shredded Diet with 1800-1850 calories for 6-8 weeks while doing following work out plan.

Monday
Squat 5/3/1
power clean 5x3

Tuesday
Run 2 miles
Swim 45 minutes

Wednesday
Bench 5/3/1
Incline DB press 3x10

Thursday
Run 2 miles
Swim 45 minutes

Friday
Deadlift 5/3/1
Chin-up 3x10

Saturday
OHP 5/3/1
Dips 3x10

Is that enough to maintain muscle mass? Are my missing anything obvious that I need to do?

Wait, you bulked from 179 to 195… in 8 weeks… and you want to cut?

If you want to be leaner for the college girls, that’s fine. But when you lean back down, I seriously doubt you’ll be more than about 181. 8 weeks isn’t nearly enough time.

Now, if you went from 179 to 195 over 6 months, and still stayed lean, that’s a totally different thing.

How many calories are you eating right now?

I suggest adding 30 minutes of low intensity cardio twice a week and continue doing what you’re doing. Don’t short yourself on the muscle gains. If you cut now, you will be disappointed in the progress you have made.

Almost as dumb as thinking it’s a good idea to run 2 miles and swim 45 min on Get Shredded Diet.
