Just wanted to let T-Nation know that I did my first 400lbs dead lift today.
I started training in November for the first time in a few years I am 20 years old 5 foot 9 and 210lbs.
To everyone who has done more be nice I’m a noobie.
To everyone else keep training, don’t worry you’ll be beating this number in no time!

Nice One!
The four plate dead is a nice milestone. Like the three plate bench.
Enjoy the moment.
That’s awesome. I take it you have your sights set on 420, twice your bodyweight?
You mentioned you are new so forgive me if I sound like your dad but make sure that after a max effort like this you stay below 85% of 400lbs for a couple of weeks before you attempt a new max.
Good luck, keep us posted on your progress.

Good job dude! Hitting PR’s is always exciting. May you have many more.

Congrats man!
4 plates…wow! Keep at it.
Nice work, buddy. Those multiple of 50 PRs are nice…those multiple of 100 PRs are AWESOME. I’m at 330 myself and climbing. Enjoy 401-499.

Congrats. There’s something special about the sound when more plates are added to the bar. Good work.

Congrats, My dead is right around 405 to, race yea to 500!
Wow thanks for the great replies!
I’ll try to answer questions as best I can.
Nope my next goal isn’t 420 though I have every intention of getting there my next goal is to row 2Km in less then 7 min (shouldn’t be to hard)
That lift was one of the last training sessions of this school year so I wont be doing any other big lifts any time soon.
I have no idea what I was lifting in november my guess would be 300ish but I had never done a deadlift before then.
Did one deadlift set twice or three times a week different one each month; regular, kneeling, sumo, etc.
“Californialaw”? Umm I’m in Ontario, Canada
Squat is 245 I have good forum but bad knees very frustrating.
Bench press is 170 good forum just small arms.
“Your body is a temple.” Amen to that!
I’ll add some more info here:
30% body weight from fat
185lbs 1RM clean and jerk
I am training to be on / stay on the UOIT rowing team.
Our strength coach is here on T-Nation all the time but I will leave him to name himself if he chooses.
Looking forward to sandbags and sled drags all summer!

Dosn’t small arms help with bench press, I have long arms and seems to be harder. Also very nice deadlift, what program have you been using?
