60Gunner Finally Got Back in the Gym

Hello all, I was looking back and it seems the last time I posted anything wasin 2017. Wow. So a lot of life going on and finally back in the gym after 2 1/2 yrs. During that time I saw a Urologist on Low T, tired, exhausted the usual with labs to back it up so he put me on Andro Gel. Did “ok”, then moved out of state and the new Urologist switched me to Natesto. Same thing, was “ok”, but would get sores inside nose due to the alcohol in it. Long story short, it was on back order and when I contacted him he said enough screwing around and I’m pinning 200mg a week and feel fuck great. So with that being said, after being on it for 6 weeks, I’m back to lifting. Man, what a difference on recovery!! I can see why people love this and other AAS. Recovery is way quicker and when I go back after a few days to do the same body parts, my lbs go up fairly significant. I’m stoked to be back, and have been scouring the boards for info when I think of something. I also have redone my eating, about 1 gram per body weight, roughly 400 carbs and have seen a nice change already. Excited to actually see results this time, even though I’m now 53. Also happy to be back on this site, it’s priceless to me personally.

Good luck - you’re the same age as me, I’m still going for it so no reason why you shouldn’t!

What are your goals? Will you be starting a log?

I can post my new log tonight for sure. Goal is a flatter gut, thick chest shoulders arms legs and my sickly ass calves. Sorry for the late resonse, I thought I hit the right button.

Add strength to that mix. If you’re healthy enough, include the 3 compound lifts in your workouts.

Remember, “50s” is/are just a number.

Biker, absolutely on the compound lifts. Before I stopped going, my deads were 415 x 6 for 2 sets. Sometimes I might only get 5 out of the last one. Usually worked my way up with 3 sets going up each time to then max sets. Trap bar, fucking love it! Would shrug my ass off. I have been looking around the house since we moved and had 3 yrs of small note books(I’m a weird one who jots down all my info at the gym) so I knew roughly how to set weights to start up again. CANNOT FIND THEM! Driving me nuts. I’ll post up what I have so far tonight.
Had a set back yesterday, thought earlier in the week I pulled a groin muscle. Nope, found out its a little more than that. So now I have to let things down there settle and my Urologist is trying to find a surgeon who do the surgery. It’s generally outpatient, recovering in about 2 days, strenuous activity 2 weeks. Y’all I have the shitiest luck man.

Hey Andregen_Receptors, just thicker mass lean down some and get some diamond shape to calves. On the mass, I weigh 265lbs at 5’11", but carry well and have mass from years of welding, fabrication and working with steel especially when I was 18yrs and on, that was my trade. Shipyards can do that to you as well as a stint in the Army. Not in bad shape now, just want myself to be happy and wife to be proud as well. She’s definitely a keeper!

Absolutely Polar-Bear, we can’t let these “young bucks” have all the fun. Old man strength brothers!

Welcome or is it welcome back? Be interesting to follow. Always good to see you kids taking an interest in lifting. You didn’t happen to carry the Pig did you?

hel320, absolutely man, loved it! Man I could punch through damn near anything with it. “Roll the 60 gunner!” Music to my ears! Did you carry one as well sir? Had some great AGs when I was a gunner. 23 lbs of 7.62 spittin’ death! It’s welcome back I guess. Didn’t participate much last time, wasn’t very “forum savvy”.

My Dad and 2 brothers were career Army and 2 other brothers were Jarheads. Grew up on Army installations. They found out I could read and write so I went Air Force and spent 30 years. Was Pararescue so worked closely with the Army many times.

Smart move, loved the Army, but when asked now by younger I tell them Air Force or Navy. More technical and usable skills outside of military life. Not many calls for a gunner ect in tbe civilian sector…well mercenary wouldn’t be a bad gig. Pays well, just need to stay alive long enough to spend it, right. I’m going to take a few min and post my “getting back at it” routine. But now pissed off because I need to see if I’m going to get this surgery to fix me now or later. If later, hittin’ the gym, fuck I’ll deal with the pain.

So my setback I found out is Left sided varicocele. Urologist is trying to find a surgeon who can do it. From what he said after the Ultrasound was read, it’s one of the top 3 in size he’s seen in over 30 yrs. This sucks ass…

Said the hell with it Gents, at the gym this morning. Never did hear from Urologist to see about the small surgery to fix the problem. Just going to take it easy and progress a little slower. No way I can stop going to the gym right? Hope everyone is doing well and staying sane!

They’re your gonads.

Personally that’s the absolute last place I’d assume a risk.

There are other urologists.

Separately, welcome. Tough guys help balance this site. You’ll want to meet Bulldog.

Roger that biker, I fully agree with you but it’s like I get in a “funk” if I don’t go. I did do sime research on the topic, and all point to if your careful you can continue. With that being said, thats why on anything that pushes on the abdomen I’m lighting up some. No more kids anyway, man I don’t even want to imagine kids at this age in diapers…
