Figuring DB Pounds to Barbell Pounds
tremad12 wrote:
clip, just take up borrek’s invitation and all of this will be settled. Until then everyone is just going to keep calling your lifts bullshit (as they probably are). I’m not saying these lifts are impossible but at your age and weight a bench that big along with a DL that is over 3x bw is highly improbable and probably would have gotten you noticed at a national level.

What are your other lifts like (Squat, weight chin/pull)? I think everyone will get a good laugh at the fake numbers you throw out here.
Man I got no desire to compete at a national level. I did try looking up some powerlifting groups, but they like 50 miles outside of Detroit. Powerlifting aint gone pay my rent or put gas in my car. i just lift for fun. And I definitely am not about to pay someone to coach me. You all may never hear of me and thats ok. How old does someone have to be to be strong? 21 in men is when strength start to develop. Im just gifted.

As great as Michael Jordan was its a guy somewhere in the hood that can ball on his level or better but will never go to the NBA.

But I dont have time for profesional powerlifting, unless its gone pay me a living.

I can jerk-off for HOURS at a time.

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what this translates to in sex time with a porn star?

Probably 15 minutes.

Well since we were all waiting for a video, let me just post DB bench videos I found today, the titles pretty much say it all

5’11", 141lbs, 110lb dumbells

5’11", 141lbs, 100lb dumbells

I dnt know that and will never know that…so lets leave it there. Unless youre going to come to Detroit so we can have a competition its no need to carry this on…

I live in Ann Arbor (20mins from hudson) and also will be working at Chrysler on Mack Avenue in Detroit next week. We could work out together and put this all to rest

This sounds like a nice idea…

For what it’s worth, I believe him. There are plenty of strong dudes that just lift and don’t feel the need to post on forums and shit like that.

And it’s always the same story when they come on the forums. They get flamed to hell, then when there is finally some type of verification everybody sings a different tune.

This one comes to mind, very similar:

Why is it so hard to believe there are people stronger than you?

I can’t speak for everyone, but in my case I don’t have any problem believing someone is stronger than me.

However, I think the OPs claims put him as strong as nearly anyone his weight nearly anywhere, and that’s what is hard to believe when it’s in the context of asking how the lifts would carry over to barbell bench. You’d almost have to know that already if your gym had a barbell bench, wouldn’t you?

I guess I’m just used to being around strong people and aceepting of it.

Like I said, there are probably many many more guys who are strong as fuck you never heard of and never will because they don’t post or have computers, or just aren’t generally concerned with competing, etc.

When I first started powerlifting, there was this kid I was lifting with who was a friggin senior in HS (I was like mid 20s), and he was repping 315 for with ease and weighed like 185. The first time he put a bench shirt on he hit 500. Needless to say last time I checked he was an elite powerlifter but he pretty much keeps to himself.

Just how it is sometimes.

I guess we will see when that guy works outs with him next week.

oh crap, lol here we go again

Well, I’m busted. I’ve never even seen a strong person and I will never accept that they exist.

Reverse band 315lb bench + 80lbs of chains for a double:

Not to detract from this masterpiece of a thread, but you do realize reverse with band presses you can handle quite a bit more weight?

Well, of course I realize that! But the point I was making is that here is a guy who weighs 172lbs and benches in the mid-to-upper 300’s and uses 100lb dumbbells for floor presses for a modest amount of reps and he is a freak on the football field (NFL) and in the gym.

Yet, the OP is claiming to be of similar weight and much stonger without offering any proof of such (no photos, no videos, just a lot of hootin’ and hollerin’ on the thread).

So if the OP is as strong and as mighty as he claims, why isn’t he the next Brian Witherspoon and playing in the NFL???

That’s the connection I was trying to make. But I don’t think it worked!
Being strong as hell doesn’t correlate to being a great athlete. I just got done watching Chris Cormier’s audition tape for gladiator and he looked horrible. He could barely do karaokes.

lmfao my dick you do 145s for 10 reps at 175lbs, why do faggots feel they have to lie on the net these days

how the fuck do you guys keep your shoulder blades tucked doing db presses? my form always goes to shit, maybe im trying to hard to get a tight setup because im used to a pl style bb bench

Yeah, DB don’t carry over to Barbell. Most people generally do more weight with the barbell than they do with the DB. Weird thing is, I am actually stronger on some of my DB movements. For instance, I have barbell rowed 245 for 12 with the barbell (with my torso a little above parallel to the floor). But, with my DB rows, I have gotten 175lbs for 8 reps (my gym has up to 200lb DBs). My lower back always seems to give out on the barbell rows, but my low back shouldn’t give out because I have a pretty strong barbell good morning. Also, my DB military press (sumed up) is far greater than my barbell military press. I don’t get it… Anyone else have this problem?

Maybe I just need to focus on barbell movements more.

Many people hear tuck, and they think they need there elbows right next to their body like a idiot. You obviously don’t want to have your elbows 90 degrees from your torso, but you don’t want them riding up the sides of your body. A natural tuck, usually about 45 degrees (or a tad lower) is fine. To get your elbows to tuck doing DB presses rotate your hands to a simi-neutral position as you lower the DBs.

Well feel free to sit on here and knock me, most of you wouldnt say none of this to my face…anyway im off to the gym to press my 145s you say I cant do so feel free to stay on here and knock me while you cant don it yourself…for all i know its the way you get your nut off…

Ever heard of Marvin Eder who at about 195 pounds i think, could bench press over 500 pounds, he was a bodybuilder in th 1950s and 60s. He used to work out w/the late Reg Park who said he witnessed Marvin Eder bb rowing 450 pounds.

Size dont always mean stretngth and vice versa…

and for all u out homos there hating on me i got the 145s for nine reps 2day…had a little joint soreness
