Feeling Like Falling When Sleeping

Just curious. Why is it that when in my dreams I trip, fall, dive, fly and fall, or something like that that I always shake like mad as if I’m actually falling?

I do it to the point where I wake myself up and actually almost end up falling off of my bed…

Ha! I do that too, usually only when I am really tired. That and I have this dream that I’m going up a set of stairs and one breaks and I swear to God I wake up from my leg jerking. I done that so many times my wife just laughs and tells me to skip that step next time.

LOL. Good advice though.

I wake up with a start if I am sleeping in an abnormal position. For instance, once I feel asleep on a plane and awoke with a start. My elbow went flying out and caught the woman sitting next to me right in the boob…dead on. Now when I think I am going to fall asleep on a plane, I sit on my hands.

My normal sleep will sometimes have dreams of me flying just by moving my arms. It’s kind of neat. I looked in a dream book once and it said that was indicative that you were in a happy relationship.

This is actually one of the most common dream themes. Check that website out it gives good insights without sounding like it’s made for wizard people.

I think that happens to most anyone. The dream I am usually having is me just being a dork and walking down the street and tripping; my whole body does the courtesy of waking me up.

Ohh, that’s too bad.

JK

Dreams can mean so many difference various things for different people. The best advice is, you are your own best dream analyzer. Just study up and learn about your dreams. Sometimes they may mean something, but most of the times, they actually don’t.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It’s funny because my girlfriend just told me that whenever we sleep together, I jerk like that at least 4 times in about 2-3 hours.

I was just napping a few minutes ago and once again it happened, thus waking me up.

I do, however, feel super energized and think I’ll get started on my homework before I go workout.

I’ll definitely try and read up some more on this topic though.
Thanks again. =)

DONT HIT THE GROUND!!! psychologists say that if you hit the ground in your dream, that you will actually die in reality…pretty spooky.
I took KEMPO for years and practiced kicks and punches. Back then I almost couldn’t sleep with chicks, they always say the I fought them all night, bad way to wake up.

Once upon a time I recall hearing that your body is generally relaxing/ muscles releasing some tension when this occurs.

Peace

Hey, now that I’m dead (surprise to me!), I wonder if TC will hire me to some magazine reviews! I could review the porn mags…

I get these too! It’s scary $hit & I don’t like it. Thank God it’s not that often that they happen.

So, I guess I’m the only one who will feel like they’re falling off the bed, then violently twist as to prevent me, then realize im still a foot away from the edge? …and sometimes hit my head on the wall.

I doubt you’d die… I’ve “died” in a dream before, but it wasn’t from falling. I got bit by a rattle snake that snuck up on me while I was on my driveway… haha

Not true. I have fallen off cliffs before in dreams and hit the ground, and it hurt. Only for a split second though, everything would go black for an instant and then I’d wake up. No pain after waking up.

I have also fallen off a cliff in a dream, and instead of hitting the ground, I was impaled by a sharp rock at the bottom. That also hurt a lot, but again, only for a split second before I woke up.

Nothing like thinking you’ve just died to start the day.

I do that shit too. Annoys the Hell out of me when it happens. I’m usually just about to fall asleep, and then WHOA! I’m gonna f–OK maybe I’m not.

Dreams may just be the byproduct of electrical/chemical reaction. Sort of like our minds are trying to make sense of what is going on.
We really no so very little about them. Oh and the feeling of falling is called a myoclonic jerk.

Just wondering does any one of you have or ever had asthma?

Waking up thinking you’re dying is GREAT, think about how people improve their life when they have a second chance.

THIS IS NUTS: I have a dream that I am sleeping in my dream, don’t know what to make of it, those heavy DL days really screw you up.
