I never had this before but the last two weeks I feel very faint about an hour PWO. I take one scoop of Surge during lifting, 1 scoop like 10 minutes after and another scoop 45 min - 1 hour PWO. Shortly after that last shake and even in between the second and third I feel very faint to the point where I just grab something to eat despite the fact that the Surge should be enough.
It’s Surge old formulation (2 scoops = 1 serving) and I’m about 200lbs and do a total body workout 3 times a week.

Gee, maybe you should try eating/drinking something else and see if that helps. Who cares if “Surge should be enough”…if it isn’t?

There’s no reason to be condescending, I’m simply asking a question.

That wasn’t condescending. This is condescending:
“Why do so many of you seem to suspend independent thought upon logging into this forum? If I were feeling ‘bad’ after training, or as if I needed some other type of nutrients that a product was not providing…I wouldn’t need to ask anyone if I should try something else to see if that feeling goes away.”
Your question is one of ‘common sense’. It didn’t need the sweetest answer. It needed the most direct one so that, possibly, you might learn to think for yourself next time.
If that statement makes you feel bad, maybe that is because it is true.
Has anything in your diet or routine changed recently? Has someone been spiking your Surge? =)
It may not always be pleasant, but the Professor is usually right. Your body is pretty good about telling you what you need. So the fact that you go straight to more food is a good indication that what you think is enough really isn’t. Make sure you drink plenty of water too.
Nothing changed really that’s why I think it’s strange. For my weight the Surge should be enough but I guess I’ll have some more food lined up next time.
I could explain why that is, but my way to help you to overcome your laziness is to not help you and only hint that yes, Surge was designed to spike insuline levels…

What is written on the Surge container?
Mmmmmhhh?
Eat something 1-2 hours after training…

Gosh, there’s like, no reason to be condescending.
THATs a normal response, and NO Surge isn’t enough in my opinion. I honestly would only take surge if i know im gonna have another meal 1to 2 hours later.
THe high insulin output will leave your blood sugar low and youll feel like crashing, sweaty, and insulin spaced.
Try having a second postworkout meal of like cottage cheese, yogurt and yam or high fiber ceral, or Metabolic Drive and Yam. Or even baja fish tacos, or sushi. THese are all my favorite second Pwo meal options, that I think are necessary.
Supplements are useful but can’t replace food, it’s as simple as that.
The best PWO meal I’ve ever used was a large pizza and a liter of milk! It was during a period of heavy training. After a squat and deadlift workout I used to be completely fu**ed, even with a proteinshake and a meal one hour after I’d be wasted for hours. That was until I found this golden combo…pizza and milk! Two hours after the meal I felt ready for another workout!
Should add that the pizza is from one of the local shops and is very lean for being pizza, almost dry. With extra ham and a litre of milk, the best PWO meal if you aren’t too worried about adding a bit of weight.
Does it help recovery, hell yeah!
Did I get stronger, you bet.
Did I gain a bit of fat? Yes but not as much as I thought I would.
Will I do it again? If raising the intensity and volume of my workouts, definitly but only when it’s needed. Too much of a good thing is NOT good.
Just follow the indications on the label. The label is there for a reason.
Take a full serving of Surge immediately post-workout (no more monkeying around with a scoop here, a scoop there). An hour, an hour and a half after that, eat.
When I started to take Surge, I didn’t eat for more than a couple hours after that. I was more hungry than ever in my life, I could sink my teeth in a live pig. And yes, I did feel faint and a bit dizzy. Next time I followed the label to the letter and all was good.

This is a great combo, but it can be done much, much better if you’re willing to spend a little time preparing it. I use a whole wheat boboli, my own sauce from tomato paste and a mixture of whole and skim mozzarella, and top it off with a pound of chicken or lean beef and green peppers. Add a pint of skim milk and you’re set.
Personally I think it tastes a lot better, and it has more protein and a lot less fat.
