TSH should be nearer to 1.0

T3, T4, fT3, fT4 should be nearer to midrange and this appears to be your problem.

Check oral body temperatures as per the thyroid basics sticky.
Your problem could be iodine deficiency if not using iodized salt.
Your experiment with T4 has diagnostic value and your perceived benefit should motivate you do get your thyroid function optimized.
