Favorite Stand Up Comedian

The only one off the top of my head that I don’t see mentioned is Steven Wright.

Ignore his Comedy Central show, Carlos Mencia is en fuego when he is not censored

Sam Kinison - The funniest motherfucker to ever walk this earth.

I like the usual suspects in Murphy, Rock, Hicks but I like some of the newer guys Bill Burr, Mike Britt and Godfrey.

I was actually listening to Robert Schimmel tonight on my drive home from work.

Jeffrey Ross always gets a laugh out of me, but I don’t think he has an album.

Either way, I second the nomination for Bill Hicks.

`I caught his special “Beyong the Pale” on comedy central last night. My wife and I were laughing so hard tears were running down our faces and we woke the kids.

His bit on Jesus was awesome. I am going to hell for sure.[/quote]

“He’s going to hell. You can’t say that.”

Yeah, I laughed my ass off at him too.

"He’s so pale. And he wispers. Is he gonna do this the entire show? "

cant believe no one has mentioned Lee Evans yet he’s got to be the funniest guy ever.

Whoops, I knew I forgot someone.

You know what you never see? Someone running at full speed while taking a shit.

Jim Norton

Cosby (Comic God)
Carlin
Robin Williams (I absorbed his personality as a kid, unfortunately I didn’t know it was the Robin Williams on Cocaine.)
Kennison (There is an impersonator.)
Tom Burgoon (Friend, and very funny)
Chris Rock
Jon Lovitz (Took time to grow on me.)
Gilbert Gottfried
Michael Finney. (Great Magician and comedian.)
Dennis Miller
And the very underrated Wendy Liebman

I can’t believe Steven Wright has only had one mention so far. He rocks. No one has his style. No one comes close, IMO.

Eddie Izzard
Lee Evans
Bill Bailey
Peter Kay
Jack Dee

All British, and some of the humour may not carry over, but all of these are great. Check out Bill Bailey’s Part Troll show on DVD, I saw him live and it was amazing - banjo version of Slayer’s South of Heaven = funniest thing I ever heard (unfortunately this is not on the dvd as it was in response to some crowd participation) and Kraftwerk Hokey Kokey!

Werd.

Add…

Brian Regan, Patrice O’Neal, Carlin, Eddie Murphy, and Pryor.

One of the best comedy CDs is Dave Attell Insomniac.

Other favorites:

Jeffrey Ross
Jim Norton
Bill Burr (saw him live on Saturday, hilarious)
Louis CK
Chappelle
Stephen Lynch
Pablo Francisco
Greg Giraldo
Doug Stanhope
Dom Irrera

I’m sure I’m forgetting quite a few since I listen/watch a lot of standup.

He has got some funny shit.

“If your driving the speed of light and you turn on your headlights, do they work?”

some good contemporary stuff would be Rodney Carrington or the bloodhound gang (twisted but funny).

Mencia is a fucking hack. That’s all I have to say about that guy.

Dane Cook

Jim Gaffigan

Chappelle

Brian Regan

Greg Behrendt, his latest “uncool” show was one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a long time.

Jay Mohr, when he’s off the reigns he’s hilarious.
