Fat In PWO Shakes?

So somewhere (forget where) I heard fats slow down protein synthesis in the body. So I was wondering if it would be okay if I put peanut butter or nutella in my protein shake (post workout) since they have some fats in them.

So no PB or Nutella or is it okay?

Well, generally, fats temper the glycemic index of a food. However, when ingested with a significant amount of carbs (as in a post workout shake), you might actually drive fat directly into storage.

In short, post workout, not the best idea to add fats.

Even though you want a big insulin rush post-workout, you’d prefer the drink to consist of high amounts of protein and high amounts of sugar (and little fat) to drive aminos into the muscle cells.

What TC Said.

You have plenty of time to get your fats during the rest of the day.

Alright thanks…I’ll keep chugging the gross taste down haha
