Falling Like Dominoes...Matt Lauer

There are a lot of very attractive women reporters. I’m sure that the News Media Idustrial Complex had, probably still has, their own casting couch similar to Hollywood’s that women like Katie Couric probably knew about early in their careers. It was just another hurdle she had to get over to rise in the ranks. It wasn’t just Lauer it was producers and television execs.

When you know that the corruption pervades your industry from the top down, when go you draw the line? On which particular ass grab to you make a stand?

Hey, thanks for asking. Sample size one here, of course.
@ Why women in higher level positions/ peers would put up with Matt Lauer or similar?

People are never one-dimensional. It was obvious that Matt Lauer’s co-workers were fond of him on some level, probably liked or respected things about him. I don’t know the names of the co-hosts who announced that he had been fired, but if you saw the Today show clip that morning, they were tearful, not celebratory. We all like people who are flawed humans.

Also, I think we’re less threatened by the joking around kind of thing from our peers so we’re more likely to see it as an annoyance, but maybe less of a harm. It becomes way more awkward, potentially threatening, when it’s someone who can fire you, can get revenge for your rejection by giving you rotten assignments, or has power over your paycheck.

LOL! You must not know as many people as I do… Some folks are ‘dimen-tia’.

I watched a Christmas movie with my wife yesterday, it was one of those cheesy “lifetime” type movies, and pretty much the only thing I could think throughout the whole thing was that if it had been real life, that dude would be so cooked. It was a Christmas movie for god’s sake and that’s literally where my mind kept going, “Welp, that’s harassment, yep that dude just got sued and lost his company.”

The fine line between stalking and romance lies in the attractiveness of the person engaged in the activities in question.

It’s far safer to turn to porn for clues on how to interact with the opposite sex lol

About the thought experiment of how this is all going to fall out, @pat.

I think it’s too early to say. It’s certainly going to result in a lot more training related to what isn’t acceptable behavior at work. I could see it going the other way. Men are trouble, they all have T poisoning that makes them act like idiots so let’s not hire men. I doubt it, since that’s half the population and it’s hard to declare too hardcore of a war on either gender since men are our husbands, fathers, brothers, sons…

“Nobody will ever win the battle of the sexes. There’s too much fraternizing with the enemy.” - Henry Kissinger.

BTW, Franken had to step down. If your strategy is to demand that Trump step down - that’s the end game - you can’t keep Franken.

Big scandal in the CA legislature. We have a 2/3 Dem majority, but the rumors are that the ratio of Dems to Reps involved is 6:1. We’ll see. It’s going to be ugly.

“A torrent of sexual-harassment allegations in the state Capitol started raining down on top Democrats in Sacramento just 48 hours after de Leon announced his attempt to challenge Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) for her seat.”

“For years, legislators have closely guarded their records with the Legislative Open Records Act, or LORA, which contains loopholes letting the Legislature shoot down public records requests more easily than any other government agency in the state. Even as four members of the Legislature have been publicly accused of harassment or other sexual misconduct over the past two months, officials have used the law to block reporters — including those from this news organization — from obtaining details about harassment claims.”

Puff:

Looks like “thinking with the wrong head” is as prevalent in Sacremento as it is in Jackson, Austin or Montgomery…

I’m assuming Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper. Completely unrelated but I know someone whose dogs are named Lemon and Cooper … just kind of through me for a loop for a second.

Carry on.

Probably a panic button intended to lockdown your office in an emergency situation. Just happens to double as a rape button.

Another one bites the dust. Dr. Lawrence Krauss, celebrated physicist, leader of the ‘Skeptics’ movement. Author and frequent guest on multiple space shows… Not allowed to step foot on campus of Arizona State University also sparking forced resignations from several organizations.
The university is investigating 10 years of alleged behavior.
Dr. Krauss is denying all allegations…

Isn’t Mark Cuban under fire now too?

I would think most men of power have at least one accuser, but when the smoke comes from multiple fires, its a bit more credible. I understand that the actual buzzfeed article was meticulously researched because of law suit threats by Dr. Krauss. Now it’s buzzfeed, but that does not mean they cannot do decent journalism… Especially on someone who is largely sympathetic to the media left paradigm… The article took about 7 months to put together as I understand it and there were witnesses to some of the behavior.

I think this is a fair break down of the allegations:

“disgrace-to-science scientist Lawrence Krauss” lol. Not sure what science they’re talking about, making me question wherever the video came from.

Regardless, Krauss’ behaviour is suspect and if it is at it appears, another one bites the dust.

What I’ve learned from all this nonsense is that I’m never closing my door in the office again (unless I’m alone). Doesn’t matter what age/gender/race the employee/manager/salesperson/vendor is… that door stays open lol.

Somebody wants to accuse me 30 years from now: “So you’re saying I propositioned you for sex and groped you in an open office with 20 people around?”

Had a basketball coach in high school, young guy, 24-26, something like that. Big, good looking dude, played ball in Europe for a bit, etc. etc. Anyway, he had put a tape “box” just inside his door (made for an “entryway” about 2 feet by 2 feet) where students could stand to talk to him. Was pretty dang smart, really.

To conclude the story, turns out he was doing the 18 year old seniors anyway…so…yeah, haha

Had an idiot chorus/band teacher at our school about that age. Turns out a bunch of the girls had a crush on him, so they broke into his house and decorated it for Christmas… and awaited his return.

When he got there, instead of calling the cops he hung out with the girls all evening and gave them wine.

This all of course came out later. What a maroon.
