Facebook (Rant)

Not really. I don’t think you update too much.

The people I’m talking about are the people that update their status like 6-7 times (or more) a day.

Am I the only one who thinks everyone should have stuck to myspace? It’s much easier to use, and you customize it to block out anything you don’t want to see.

The problem is that our uncles, aunts, and grandma’s didn’t get onboard with it.

Actually, I don’t like that about facebook either. On St. Patty’s Day I posted on one of my friend’s walls that we should hit up a strip club. That happened to be the day that facebook decided to post every single action of everyone of your friends on your home page.

My aunts haven’t talked to me since. Damnit!

Yep, update with nonsense. No one I’ve met through this site is a culprit or so much of a culprit to elicit a rant about the sillyness of it. I thought my quotes illustrated the type of shit I’m talking about quite nicely.

yup. Bob_sander nailed it. Put it so that you can’t see their posts. They are none the wiser so it spares their feelings and keeps the annoyance factor down. My Facebook has a couple like that.

There’s one weird bitch I knew from high school that married for money (so typical). She eats out 3 meals a day and posts telling us about it every single time. Her life consists of nothing more than spending her husbands money and she makes damn sure every one knows all about it. “Today I bought ANOTHER motorcycle and after that we went to Ruth Chris”. And then a couple of minutes later it’s " Tomorrow I’m gonna hop on a plane to Paris to shop for shoes!!!"

it seems so incomprehensible that there are people who are not only utterly shallow. egocentric, narcissistic and childish, but on top of all that they have to spam it to every one else. They ahve to tell you over and over and throw it up in your face. Can’t understand it.

I think there are underlying self confidence issues with that chick. I find that people who post things like that are looking for people to comment on their status’ with " OMG you are SOOOOOO lucky!" or “Wow! Where do you get all this money from!” just to make themselves look/feel important. She probably thrives on the idea that her friends are jealous. Best to ignore.

Well, the bonus with people who post their every activity is that if you want to kill them, you’ll know where to find them. Seriously facebook has it’s plus side but the annoying applications need to go.

I am STILL waiting for the unlike button!!!

the internet is a haven for people to get attention when they wouldn’t get any otherwise. I have a truly horribly obese person on my contacts there who I once saw having written “… I just nearly choked on a twinkie!” this is someone who weighs at least 250lb of pure lard.

In fact, I can’t think of a single person on my facebook friends list who isn’t and attention whore. Everyone wants to be popular. Few people realize it when they look fucking pathetic.

No kidding…and then there are the people who have “fan pages” about them. The nerve of these attention whores!

Wait … so you know someone with their very own “fan page”? Now that’s some egocentric narcissistic shit … And it’s pretty damn pathetic to those who are actually fans of this person too…

Well actually what’s even worse is that I’m almost certain this person didn’t create their own fan page. So it’s really just the pathetic creatures who are fans of this person who should be put down.

I use facebook nearly exclusively to insult my friends and keep in touch with women.

I respond all the time to people’s updates, even those I don’t know that well, with sarcastic remarks… it’s to the point where I think that if people don’t know me that well in real life, they delete me cause I’m such a douche.

It’s fun to crush people’s narcissism.

Why did they create a fan page? Are they anything special? Do they do something interesting?

To the OP, did you put this rant on your Facebook also? It might do more good there?

Are we facebook friends? That would entertain me to no end.

I hate dudes on facebook that pose with empty liqour bottles like their cool or something…I mean, its cool if its an actual random shot but if you take the time to pose with a closed bottle in your moth then WTF MAN WTF!!

Chenky, I think it’s cuz the person that created it is secretly a lesbo (NTTAWWT) and is in love with her.

For the record, I am not a fan of this page… but you are, aren’t you?

My original intention with opening a facebook account was to touch base with old friends. Actual friends…people who I like and respect and have associated with on a social level.

A few weeks after you join, you get the friend requests from people you hardly know. You add them, because you don’t want to look like an asshole.

As time progresses, the connection you have to the people wanting to add you becomes more and more tenuous. Sons of former barbers, people you went to sports camp with in grade 4, and even people with the same name as you. By this point your list has swollen to a ridiculously inflated number, and you start deleting people.

I agree with the OP about the incessant status updates. I had one girl I went to high school with posting HOURLY on her fucked-up life, or random nonsensical net-speak like “2day…LOLZ, Dave and Steve WTF GTFO of here!!”. I blocked her status updates, but she started posting on my wall. Posting on EVERYONE’S wall, as a matter of fact.

I finally deleted her, and within a day of doing so she messaged me asking if I thought that I was better than her, and referred to me as “FAGGOTZ” (seriously, with the Z). Apparently afterward she posted a status update, informing everyone on her list that I was a “FAGGOTZ”.

I’m pretty much done with facebook.
