Face Pull Angle

How important is the angle from which you do a face pull? Can pulling say 30 degrees up towards the face be dangerous in any way? I dont want to eff with my shoulders and sometimes its not convenient or even possible to get the angle right, so I was wondering if it was imperative that it be horizontal or from above…

i can’t speak for shoulder health because i don’t know what is healthy/unhealthy for the joint. but i could imagine that you could shift the emphasis from the delts to the lats/rhomboids by pulling on a downward path and vice versa.
