Some lifts lend themselves to more explosiveness than others. I’d say for many isolation exercises, it kind of defeats the purpose a little (e.g. preacher curls).

Most of my pushing movements start off explosively on the positive, with a controlled negative. Whereas others like back and legs I feel benefit better from slower/rhythmic movements.

I say do both. Most of the time i do slow negitives and an explosive positive.
I like doing a week with slow tempo, like a 404, every month (kinda similar to High intensity training).
Maybe do certain body parts slow and others fast. Play around with it, some body parts like chest i get a bigger pump with a faster lift.
