Experiences Starting TRT with OCD/Panic Disorder?

My doctor will prescribe 100mg test cyp per week but doesn’t like to go higher for fear of liability issues, I think…
With that said, I know 100 is enough for lots of guys but not all… If I had to go the clinic route, such as defy, would I be better sticking to shots or does scrotal creams seem to help guys as well?

I’ve never used creams, but I will say that once you get over the fear/novelty of injections they are very easy to manage. I would think having to apply cream multiple times per day would get obnoxious, and then you still have to deal with timing and being careful not to transfer it.

Pros and cons to each so there is no right or wrong. Injections are more common, by far. Some doctors only use creams. I offer both and only a few tried cream, all of them ended up on once or twice weekly injections eventually.

Is there something specific that makes guy’s switch from cream to injections, or just an overall feeling? I’m a month in at 60mg cream daily, gonna try 40mg twice daily. Have a feeling I may end up on injections, too.

Those I see that were using creams and switched to injections did so because:

  1. Daily or twice daily dosing was less convenient.
  2. They felt no better with creams, started injections, tried creams, went back to injections.
  3. Transfer to spouse.
  4. Poor absorption.
  5. Allergic to something in the cream.

I tried the cream and my levels were high right after the application to the inner thigh, I felt the effects within minutes, but decrease rapidly after a very short amount of time and the highest levels I got was 83 ng/dL a few hours after application and even if I dosed it 2x daily, it wouldn’t matter because 3 hours later…

This is what Dr. Saya (medical director of Defy) mentioned what he sees in his practice and why he uses the cream as a last resort when injections fail to deliver results.

A 100mg isn’t always enough to optimize some guys, testosterone is cardioprotective and having your levels suboptimal isn’t good. Most do well slightly above midrange (>500 ng/dL) and some need higher levels.

That is exactly what happened to me in my case. Went injections to cream after seeing all the positives in all the YouTube videos then went back to injections for all of these reasons except poor absorption. My levels were crazy high, but so were my wife’s.

I had depression and panic attached bad from age 30 to 35. I started on testosterone pellets and most of my depression and panic went away. It was like a miracle cure for me. I’ve since gone to injections and the depression and panic are still not an issue. I will say I did have a better sense of well being on the pellets. I liked the slow release of testosterone over months.

What kind of dose and frequency do you find works for you? IM or SubQ ?

I’m doing 25mg daily with a 29 gauge insulin needle. I inject in shoulders, legs, and my back side. I mix it up

I’m at 80mg per day of cream after a month of 60mg. Never get morning or nightly wood. I did for the first 2 of 3 months on testogel. Without going to applying on the scrotum, how should I determine if cream is a bust?

Think I should go to 100mg per day for a few weeks? I thought raising my dht might be my pfs answer, but, free t is probably the one I should be focusing on. My orgasms aren’t getting better either, probably worse.

Sound as though it is, at least with this dose. Labs would help to determine absorption. Then you’d know for sure.

I should have mentioned I have a few women who did not absorb the cream very well until moving to the labial areas.

I used to struggle with anxiety and depression in my late teens and early 20’s. I did recover from it, though, and exercise as well as more healthy eating probably boosted my test levels.

I’m on TRT now (ASIH happened a couple of years after living a healthy and anxiety-free life). I no longer experience anxiety, although I’ve had minor depressive episodes come and go while on TRT.
