Exotic Meats - What Have You Tried?

What are some exotic meats that you guys have tried that you have really liked?

So far for non-traditional meats I’ve had:

Bison
Mountain Ram
Bear
Crocodile
Ostrich Egg
Kangaroo
Antelope
Emu
Snake
Yak
Wild Boar
Bugs (spiders, scorpions, etc)

Deer and pheasant are pretty common where I live, so I don’t consider them very exotic, but I don’t know how much other places eat pheasant that often. I didn’t really like either one.

Elk was awesome. Had some elk sliders once, with some fancy type of cheese. Can’t get any more descriptive than that but they were super good. And I really liked bison.

Your list looks much more exotic; mine is fairly common animals for the American Midwest.

Roo is sold in a lot of Australian super markets. It’s like beef but maybe a bit leaner and more gamey taste and smell about it

No lie, I’ve just had haggis for breakfast! Imagine my horror when I found out what it’s made of: poor furry, cute, cuddly mammal!

That would have probably been made with “Mountain Oysters”…aka…Bull nuts!

Alligator
Whitetail Deer
Emu
Black Bear (Greasy)
Crawfish (I am originally from Louisiana after all)
Wild Boar (hog)
Snake
Coon
Elk
Bison (My FAVORITE steak)
Moose

Tur-duck-en (not really exotic but the combination of the three is pretty unique)

There wasn’t many cows around that area, but there is a good possibility it was sheep nuts

I saw a gypsy being interviewed on TV about eating hedgehog

Interviewer: “So, what did hedgehog taste like?” (expecting the old ‘chicken’ answer)
Gypsy: “Well…it tasted a bit like cat”
Cue hysterics in our house

I have traveled throughout Asia for many years … meaning I was never sure what I was eating.

Knowingly … I have had

Turtle (Turtle stew and sauce piquant are regulars in Louisiana)
Fried bugs (Thailand - like eating charcoal)
Quail
Dove
Duck
Rabbit
Squirrel
Alligator (fried and in sauce piquant)
Crawfish (of course).
Deer of course (lots of deer sausage in LA).

I’m not so brave or diverse any more.

Bawhahhaha! Hilarious!

I won’t count deer/moose/elk etc because it was pretty common for me growing up (family of hunters). Aside from that, I had shark steak in Thailand. That was delicious.
