Exercise Technique

Charles Staley recommends to never do glute/ham raises on any other bench but a glute/ham bench. These benches allows one to lay horizontal. I do the raises on a 45 degree angle hyperextension bench. I feel it in my hams. Is there that much of a difference between the two to eliminate them from my routine? Considering my gym doesn’t have the “proper” glute/ham bench. Any feedback?
