Has anyone here ever ‘pulled’ one of their erector spinae working out? I was doing upright rows this morning and something popped in my back, 2-3 inches below my shoulder blade and 1-2 inches from the spine on my right side. Pain is pretty localized there and the spasms aren’t too bad, sometimes radiate under my lat (sometimes pain is in my ribs too). I’ve pulled the same muscle once before doing heavy standing barbell curls (not as bad this time). I’m just wondering what it might be and how I could strengthen it (I already do deadlifts, squats, good mornings, etc.) Thanks!
If it’s happened before & it happened again & it’s keeping you from getting through workouts I’d get it checked out. Go see a physio or chiroopractor or something. I don’t know if it could have been your form or what, but if you do deadlifts & goodmornings, your back should be able to handle lighter weights for curling.
It last happened a couple years ago, but it is a weird kind of injury. It could be a form thing i.e. paying more attention to form/posture in deadlifts/good mornings than upright rows/standing curls. Feels better today, but I’ll have to take it easy for a few days. If it persists I’ll have it checked out. Thanks.
