Employer Screwing Me - Retribution?

I have recently had my hours cut at my 2nd job which brings in the majority of my income. I was working over 30 and they cut me down to just over 10. I don’t bring enough money in from my other job to pay my bills and rent. They know this, but I think its a matter of they can pay someone else less than they pay me to do the same work.

With all that said, I know they pay some people under the table. I know they report our wages as more than what they actually are. They also force every employee to sign a document to allow them to deduct $10.00 out of each paycheck for “insurance” which I believe they just put in a fund so that they don’t have to actually use their insurance when accidents happen(its a valet company).

I want to hit them where it hurts, but I don’t know if I can or how to go about it. More importantly, I don’t have any evidence. Is there any recourse for me? I have heard the IRS gives rewards to people for ratting on others for tax fraud/evasion. I assume paying under the table falls under that category.

I would appreciate any advice on this, thanks.

Hmmm I don’t know what sort of case you have but there might be some sort of way to get back at them, however, I have no idea how. GL.

Print and post a bunch of flyers around the city stating that per megans law it is required that all the residents be notified that a child molester has recently moved to the local area and has been employed by “your companies name”. Then state that his name is “whatever your bosses name is” then tell everyone to call this company demanding said individual be removed from employment and driven out of the neighborhood.

I would never do this but always imagined this would be a good way to get back at someone who royally pissed me off!! Give it a shot and let me know how it goes…

Thanks

ok I would appreciate actual useful advice thanks.

Very bold move on his part. We’ll see how that pans out in the long run

i thought that the majoritiy of the valets get their pay based on tips rather than hourly wages?
id say the best way to hit them where it hurts to get video of customer cars being mistreated.

i heard about the IRS thing too but have also heard that they sometimes dont go after ‘small fish’ or cash business that would alot of legwork for not a big payoff…

Talk to your boss about it. Maybe he knows what to do. oh wait

I thought this thread was written by a chick so it caught my attention.

Damn it.

Don’t go for the retribution. Maybe the company is hurting for money in this economy so they are cutting hours to save jobs rather than just firing you. I would talk to your boss and tell him you would be available for any extra hours he could give you.

It sucks that this happened.

Stand straight and stop sucking your employer’s dick like most Americans

Is it a small company? Currently they’ve cut your hours, if you succeed in having the company investigated you could possibly lose your second job entirely.

Is retribution going to pay your bills? Find a new job - that’s useful advice. Unless of course you really do have something to jam them up and you extort them - that would pay your bills, temporarily. Tell them to consider it severance. Otherwise, it’s all wasted energy isn’t it?

Fuck that!

It’s the only reason i’m still employed!

You should see what I have to do to get a raise.

Me and you both! Man that sucked.

thanks everybody. to TheBodyGuard, I have been trying for over a year to get a better job/start a career. I received my degree a year ago and have had absolutely no luck. I have a lead tomorrow on another job, whether they are actively hiring is another question. I also have a good chance at getting into Dept. of Corrections, if they are actively hiring. But I need something to get me by until then.

To Jasmincar, I suck no one’s dick. That’s why I believe my hours are being cut, because I show up to work, do solid work, then leave. I’m just not the “friends with everyone and talk to people for no reason” type, which is why I believe they are doing this.

Octobergirl, I don’t believe the owners are hurting for money. In fact, I know they are not. Already spoke with the owner and my manager, they gave me bullshit reasons to try to justify this. I corrected what they had problems with and still my hours are gone.

If I can get a small sum of money somehow based on what I know how they run their business I would be satisfied.

and to the other guys who thought this thread was started by a chick, do you know ANY girls named Steven?

You know, real life doesn’t always play out like it does in the movies (I thought this one was more appropriate than that Fight Club bullshit).

You best be learning how office politics work if you want to prevent shit like this from happening to you in the future. No one likes working with a buzz kill, especially when it comes to someone as easily replaceable as a valet.
