Does anyone know how to use these for Olympic weightlifting or otherwise? Any help would be greatly appreciated . I could post a link but I think it is against the rules.

Think I found an explanation, can’t watch the sound yet. Has anyone got any others or a written explanation.
The video provides a nice demonstration of how to use the various types of straps. I’d suggest the second version for a beginner. Strossen’s description and explanation of each are helpful, of course, but I think you can get the idea from the video.
