Elbow Position on the Jerk

Glenn–

Do you have a preference on elbow position during the jerk? I have always kept my upper arms parallel to the floor. But other coaches, and lifters, have the elbows pointed down slightly.

This article says they should be under the barbell? Does it really even make a difference?

I believe I recall John Broz saying that more elbow injuries tend to happen with lifters who keep their elbows up.

The elbows should be as far down and out as they can be while still providing a solid surface on the shoulders for the bar to sit on. This will be differerent for different people.
