That sucked. I saw them in concert with the post Sammy Hagar lead singer (Gary Sherone? spelling?).
Truly awful. Eddy sucked and that was years ago. I couldn’t believe how bad they were.
Then I saw David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar when they toured together. Excellent show.
Eddie doesn’t realize that “LSD”, as he calls it, kept VH selling out stadium shows for all those years, NOT his nimble playing (which wasn’t even that if he’d been drinking).
There are plenty of guitar virtuosos out there playing small and maybe medium venues. These are the guys that mainly only guitarists know about. Roth’s stage presence (and a little boost from Gene Simmons) is what catapulted those guys to the top very quickly.
Sorry, but he’s a fucking idiot.

You are going to have to explain this further.
In the US there are a number of drugs that are not approved however the law you appear to be quoting seems to be the disclaimer that is put on legal supplements that the FDA has not evaluated the supplement for the purpose.
A doctor can treat a patient with legal supplements and diet all he wants. This is not breaking any law.
I would love to know what EVH believes cured his cancer. Is it a drug not approved by the FDA or a natural supplement?
You’re right. A doctor can treat a patient with supplements, but not cure cancer with them.
If you sell a supplement and said it cured a disease you’d go to jail because only a drug can cure a disease.
You’d go to jail because you’re selling a drug without a license.
It would be pretty interesting knowing how he cured it though.
I saw him play with Van Halen twice and even though he had cancer,he always put on a great show.

what was that show like ? did they play together ? were they both doing van halen tunes ? who got top billing ?
if the original van halen were playing i’d definitely pay to check that out. but not this bullshit with wolfie.
eddie is a spoiled child and he has no discipline and no judgement of reality. the worst situation to see him in is one where he has complete control. even roth, nutjob that he is, has a discipline and work ethic and the ability to deliver the goods on time. can you imagine a van halen lead by eddie, with his 15 year old son and his doting brother/father on one side and someone he despises/secretly envies(roth),for his ability to express himself without inhibitions, on the other ? now that’s a freakin train wreck.
i hope roth is smart enough to say no to this wolfie bullshit. i hope the fans are also.

I don’t remember if anyone got top billing. David Lee Roth went on first. His voice was a bit rough but he was great. He spouted his usual crazy talk but it was a high energy show.
Hagar went on last. I missed the last 20 minutes bt they did not play together while I was there. Hagar was really good too and I was suprised because I strongly prefer DLR VH to Van Hagar. Hagar seemed like a normal guy after listening to some of Roth’s crazy talk earlier.
They both did their solo stuff as well as their VH stuff.
The rumor was they did not get along on tour at all.

part 1
part 2
just found this bit on the sam and dave tour… gives some good behind the scenes insight into the contrast between a low key regular guy like sammy and and the over the top/larger than life persona of roth.
you can bet the van halens had the same headaches with roth that sammy had.
maybe their more reserved dutch upbringing left them unprepared for someone so thoroughly extroverted as roth ?
i mean most of that vid is sammy REACTING to roth. roth is always one step ahead of him in his quest to make everything bigger the next time. i think sammy said it all when he admitted that dave is a “rock star” and he isn’t. sammy can’t keep up with dave. and really, at the end of the day what would you rather see: dave with the playboy triplets in silver catsuits or sammy choosing between black or white underwear ?
as for the van halens, the can’t keep up with dave either. and more importantly they’re in denial that it’s dave who put them all over the edge into super-rock star status. without him they would’ve been just another guitar act, albeit awesome guitar, but they wouldn’t have had any more fans than someone like steve vai or satriani. i think history shows this. it’s becoming clearer to me that the van halens are ingrates.

Funny that in interview at the time of the “break-ups”, EVH characterized both of them as having the same obnoxious LSD personality.
Roth is always “up” and Hagar is always upbeat. I guess that’s what they have in common.
What he said…
For the record – and I hate to be a naysayer because I hope it DOES happen – but my money is now on this reunion tour not happening. It’s been what, a week, since this alleged “news” hit all the major news outlets? And there hasn’t been one iota, not a peep, from the band, Ed, Dave, anyone, with regard to any official announcement. All the news reports seemed to hint that it wound be announced within days, if not hours.
With this dysfunctional crew? I say there are 5-to-1 odds at this point at best. Ain’t happening, methinks. It would’ve been formally announced by now.
Hope I’m wrong.
