I find that if I look up while I am doing seated dumbell shoulder presses I am able to keep much better form as I can see where my hands are and make sure that I keep them where they are supposed to be. Am I effecting my targeted muscles in a negative way by doing this?
By looking up you may be doing more of an incline dumbell press and hitting the upper part of your chest more so than your shoulders. I would suggest using a light enough weight to get your form down pat so you don’t have the need to look up. On the other hand if your front delts are sore from the workout and not your chest you may not have a problem at all. Just make sure your shoulders are doing the work and not your chest and you should be fine either way.
