In Amit Sapirs article ‘Drink your food’ he uses liquid egg whites in his shake. I thought that egg whites had to be cooked in order for the body to be able to digest the protein properly. Is it ok to have raw egg whites in a shake like that?

Many companies offer pasteurized liquid egg whites. That’s probably what he’s referring to. As raw egg whites would have a salmonella risk.

you don’t absorb the protein from uncooked eggs as efficiently but people still do it

I was taught that cooked egg protein had a much lower absorption rate than raw eggs.

By the way, Salmonella is probably exclusive to factory farmed eggs where the hens live in each other’s feces. I have been told that there has never been a reported case from pasture raised eggs.
