Dream 6 Predictions

Looks like another good card we get to see for free on HDNET. I am looking forward to the CroCop/Overeem, Kharitonov/Siliga, and hopefully Jacare/Manhoef.

Cro Cop vs. Alistair Overeem
Nick Diaz vs. Sakurai
Kharitonov vs. Siala “Mighty Mo” Siliga
Galesic vs. Jacare
Manhoef vs. Mousasi
Nakahara vs. Dong Sik Yoon
Hideo Tokoro vs. Atsushi Yamamoto
Galesic/Jacare vs. Manhoef/Mousasi

Any predictions?

It’s a great card, let’s see:
Cro Cop would have eaten Alistair alive a few years ago, who has made good progress since. He weak sides come out when he is pressured long enough. However, Cro Cop has lost a bit of aggression in the last years, so his boxing alone could be too little against the more versatile dutch fighter- so I say Overeem.

Nick Diaz? can’t find him here:

Kharitonov, if he closes in well, which he will do. On the other hand, Judo fighters have sometime a harder time taking superheavies to the ground- Mo weighs 70 lbs more.
Still, I say the russian wins int the second round.

I’ve heard endless praise for Jacare, but I’ve only seen maybe one of his fights, same with his opponent, so no idea.
Yet another fight where one fighter is way more dangerous on the ground and will fight accordingly. So prob. Jacare

Manhoef is very dangerous and perhaps too much on his feet for Mousasi. The more experienced Manheof, the earlier, the more decisive.

Final:The stellar submission specialist can win against the explosive (tm Joe Rogan) striker if he takes him down early.
…Jacare first round if he’s not too damaged from Galesic.

I didn’t see anything about Diaz either but I would love to see Sakurai more. And I would have him taking Diaz.

A couple years back I would have just said Cro Cop but these days, I think Overeem has a good shot.

Too many choices and combos with the others.

But it’s going to be fun, no matter how it goes…

I wish I got HDNet.

I have bunny-ears on my TV and get 3 stations. But with the power of the Interweb, I just wait til the next day and somebody uploads the feed.

I hear ya but it’s almost impossible to download the torrent without finding out the results first, which kind of defeats the purpose for me.

True. Basically, I stay away from reading anything on this forum for a few days.

I don’t know, all of those matchups are hard to call. I think Jacare wins the first match and then whoever survives Manhoef/Mousasi annihilates him standing.

Anybody getting amped for dream 6? Cro cop/overeem should answer some final lingering questions for me about cro cop.

Final should be jacare/manhoef. Jacare has the skills to take the win via groundgame, but I see him being over confident in the standup and losing. Should be good either way.

I hope and think cro cop will bounce back he says he will eventually come back to the ufc when hes ready by that time i hope lesnar is champ so cro cop can beat the shit out of him ala bob sapp

^that would be beautiful actually

I can’t wait. I have watching some old (2004/2005) Pride DVDs and I really would like to see the old Cro Cop back. He was such an exciting fighter when he was agressive. He has looked like a shell of his former self in last few fights.

I also think it is going to be Jacare and Manhoef in the finals. I don’t think that one goes past the first round. If Manhoef can keep it standing, we’ll see a violent KO. If Jacare get him down, we should see a pretty easy submission.

hey slim,

whose ass is that on your avatar?

Brutal upkick, no one saw that shit coming.

Cro Cop is officially dead. Sad. He was getting destroyed even before the Congo knees by Overeem. Dude still has no ground game but to hold, he looks overweight, way slower than before, his old speed, sprawl, and sidestepping is gone, doesn’t even push guys off, completely defensive with no offense, etc. Fucking sad. Guy used to be a beast. They should just set up the Overeem Fedor fight as if he won.

SPOILERS:

Mousasi is great fighter. Really, really balanced. Manhoef made a mistake slamming him, it was like in the Greek myths with Heracles and Antaeus
I thought Jacare will pull of the submission, though, glad that Mousasi kept his nerve and managed to win (with upkick, LOL)

He isn’t only hot prospect now, he’s talented and can find an answer to strikers AND grapplers. It’s interesting to see him against more experienced wrestler/grappler, in match going past the first round.

About the headliner of the night - Cro Cop looked bad against bigger and typically aggressive in the first round Overeem. Takedown defense is still issue, and it doesn’t help that he looks cautious and afraid of getting KTFO’d. He caught the Dutch with one body kick and that was all. His career could be prolonged, but now most of the fans feel bad for him. He isn’t “Ken Shamrock” bad, but that’s not the point. Time will tell if this NC will be the critical point.

Overeem, on the other hand, looked comfortable at HW, powerful and eager to fight as always. He cut Cro Cop with an elbow in the first 2 minutes, and while I knew he could pull a submission or knock his opponent out, I haven’t seen him from the mount. He fucked up with the knees to the groin, though, the fight was going well in the direction he wanted it to go.
I don’t think the New Year’s Eve match with Fedor will be good for him, Fedor or DREAM, so a rubber match with Kharitonov will be nice.

It was really nice tournament, if the Cro Cop - Overeem match didn’t end like that, it would have been great.

Cro Cop did look terrible alright. He seemed to be carrying too much weight, and was really slow.

Overeeem on the other hand looked to be in great shape for the fight. He was 242 and looked jacked! He must of been pissed about the NC, he was totally dominating Cro Cop.

The finish to the MW final was insane. That upkick seriously nailed Jacare! Man! He was out dead. I was surprised he was up so quick after it.

On another note, there was some classic Bas commentating throughout lol.

I just watched it all last night.

CroCop looked pretty old and slow. Might be the new shorts, but his legs looked like they lost a lot of size. Allister was eating his babies.

What was the total duration of all the MW fights? Like 45 seconds? That shit was nuts.

Bas was on fire for that show.

Is Fedor/Overeem on for the New Years Eve show? That should be a pretty damn good fight. Allister looks pretty brutal as a HW.

Haha, yeah, my line of the night from Bas was “Stoic. Thats a great word, stoic.”

It was funny when the cut from Cro Cop on the ground in agony back to Fedor sitting in the crowd, and he was smiling and laughing. Might have been unrelated but, it made me laugh.

Yeah, I wonder what will happen now with the New Years Eve show. They did say the winner of the Overeem / Cro Cop bout would of been the one to face Fedor but, now after the NC result they might have to come up with another opponent…

Problem is, outside of the UFC, the only guys that deserve it are Barnett, Arlovski (as long as he doesn’t fuck up today against Nelson in Elitexc), and Overeem. Overeem was owning cro cop, they should give him the fight on new years. He earned it. Fedor by destruction though.

Yeah, id love to see either Barnett or Arlovski brought in to fight Fedor, Though, I dont think its going to happen. Well, thats just going by the internet rumor mill lol.

I still wouldnt mind seeing Overeem v Fedor, though. Overeem looked good against Cro Cop but, I agree that Fedor will probably win comfortably.
