Drace's V-Diet Log

Well folks, I’ve wallowed in blubber for too long, and now I’m angry. I’ll be twenty years old on March 23, and I swear that this year I will be my own present.

Tomorrow I will be done with spring break, and back at school. Days will begin at 6 a.m. with empty-stomach walk around the 'hood for an hour. More details in later posts, but here is a starting pic…

Good luck with the diet. As soon as you’re done with the 6 weeks though, I’d suggest slowly brining up your calories again and starting a clean bulk.

Started today with a shake at 0600, but pussed out on the walk. It was 30 degrees… anyways… A little about me:

Height: 5’9"
Weight: 173
Age: 20 in a few days
Short term reason for V-Diet: Fat loss
Long term reasons: Want to do as well as possible on Marine Corps OCS PFT. I want to be a USMC Aviator, and I work hard on becoming ready to give the OSO a reason to put me into OCS on a flight contract.
Meal plan:
0600 Shake with water
1000 Shake, 6g Fiber from chewable fiber tablets
1400 Shake
1600 Shake
2000 Shake, 6g Fiber

I plan to knock out the hunger problems with a lot of Spike, Copenhagen and H20. I’m already a waterholic, so thats not going to be a problem.

Anyone know a max/min recommended daily fiber intake?

The V-Diet is not typically used by people with little to no muscle mass.

Good luck.

It’s said the recommended daily is 25g which the average American barely reaches. So 25 and above is fine. Good luck on the V-Diet.

Actually, it wasn’t intended to be but more and more of these threads popping up are exactly what you described.

I suggest you read everything Berardi has to offer before jumping in to an extreme diet. I made the same mistake last year after my shoulder injury. I had more muscle than you but still failed miserably.

Pro. X told me the same thing, but I was already 2 weeks in the the V Diet.

Cut the cost of the V Diet and buy Precision Nutrition. Best 120$ I’ve every spent.

Good luck on OCS - and the V-diet!

I’ve soaked up info, i’ve been lurking at T-Nation for over a year. I don’t have much to show for it (starting pic…) but I am a work in progress. What do you mean you failed? You couldn’t stick it for 28 days, or it just plain didn’t work for you?

SECOND DAY ON V-DIET: Being in a dorm room is a pain in the ass, hard to get enough sleep. Slept from about 0030 to 0600, slammed shake no. 1, slapped on some sneakers and went for a 10 minute run/20 minute walk. I started mixing GNC brand fiber powder with every other shake, in addition to fiber tabs throughout the day.

The fiber powder makes the shakes more filling, but, it seems I’m still shitting every 45 minutes or so. Liquid diet for ya. Felt exhausted at points during the day, need to pick up some spike or HOT-ROX. Anyone know off the top of their heads which is less expensive? Toned down my MWF lifts a little bit so that they coincide with my club boxing practices in the evening.

Had been performing a tweaked version of Alwyn Cosgrove and Chad Waterbury’s “Real Fast Fat Loss” for some time, but today I just nailed down flat/incline/decline bench. I just nailed down my 1800 shake with a little less protein and water, need to conserve that stuff, being a broke ass college student and all.

OUTLOOK: I know I’ll regret saying this, but this really isn’t that bad so far. I stay motivated by looking at pictures of myself, reading the Phoenix Theory article every day, remembering a couple glorious months in high school when I ran every day and thinned down a bit.

I think the hardest part of this 26 days i have left will be avoiding alcohol on the weekends, and my birthday which is coming up. I’m looking forward to my solid meal on Saturday.

Does anyone know if there are any non-stimulant appetite supressants? Is that an oxymoron? Spike is the only real-deal stimulant i’ve had experience with, but it gives me racing thoughts and shaky hands. Also, I’m always tempted to weigh myself EVERY morning after clearing out my insides and before drinking any water, but I feel like that can cause someone to psych themselves out. Is there any evidence out there that checking weight should be spaced out by a few days or so?

HOT-ROX is part of the V-Diet, why are you debating ordering it?

Yea…like Swole and LillGuy already stated, VDiet was not meant for those lacking in the muscle department. But, as Swole stated, people don’t get it. Oh well, good luck.

from your posts it does not look like you did your research, you really should do the diet exactly as prescribed, its called the scientific method… If you expect to get the same results doing something different that is not logical, especially when numerous people have done it to a ‘t’ and plenty have not, I will give you one guess as to who got “results not typical” results.

Basically you should have had everything lined up and ordered before starting, not debating weather to order a key component after starting (“gee I got this new house, but i wasn’t quite sure on what windows I want yet, so i just have holes in my walls”)

Sorry to be blunt… But I think you need to do some evaluating and more research

Well, I’ll see how things work out. No prob with the bluntness, would rather have constructive criticism then a bunch of replies going “good luck”. Will update in a few days.

You know what, I was going to try to be nice and supportive, but you have no idea what you’re doing.

Do you know the exact amount of calories you’re taking in daily?

Do you know what your macro totals are?

Why are you not taking a fat burner?

Where’s the flax meal?

No casein protein?

Why are you running?

Why are you boxing?

Why are you not getting enough sleep?

Why did you start this diet totally unprepared?

Why did you start this diet with no muscle?

Why are you dieting in the first place?

Answer all of these questions and then we can talk about you continuing to do this.

Yeah, so I did start the diet somewhat unprepared. Was tooling around with the search function and found out that Metabolic Drive doesn’t make you shit your guts out. Is it sold in any supplement stores though… don’t want to wait for it to be shipped if I order online.

Not taking fat burners… my excuse is that what I have tried so far makes me uncomfortably moody, shaky, I generally stay away from all stimulants. But for 28 days, I’ll deal with it. Going to go get Max Strength HOT-ROX tomorrow. And Surge, if I can find it.

Why am I running? Didn’t think that there was that much of a difference of whether I walked 3-4 miles at a fast pace or whether I ran a mile and walked two. I do monitor my calories exactly. I know my min/max caloric intake. I’ll get my flax meal too. I’m boxing because I have been doing it, I like it, and I’m not going to stop. I feel the marginal benefit outweighs the marginal cost.

Sleep… I try to get “enough” sleep every night. It’s not exactly something I have complete control over. If I had my own bedroom, that would be a different story, but for now I live in a small room with two roommates who respect my schedule but aren’t on the same schedule.

I’ts my fault that I started this diet unprepared in regard to supplements, but I didn’t start it “totally unprepared”. The supplement situation will be remedied asap. On why I started this diet with “no” muscle… I guess I’ll grab all that spare muscle I keep in my closet.

JC, I’m not going to wait to do this diet until I have a nice build, that is a future priority, while losing fat is a current priority. Does my first post not explain why I’m dieting in the first place? And I don’t know what a “macro total” is though, forgive my ignorance. Would anyone care to explain?

In the meantime, I’m sticking with the way I’ve modified the diet until I have the means to do it down to the letter.

I’m not going to go on a rant with all the things you’re doing wrong, and how the answers to all my questions don’t remedy the fact that you’re oblivious to your lack of preperation for this diet. What I will say is that if you continue to do this as you are doing it, you will fail. I’m not in the mood or condition right now to disect everything wrong/ignorant in your post, although I really want to because it’s frustrating to hear your answers for some reason.

My honest suggestion is that you stop doing it right now, wait until you have all the specific and necessary information and supplements, and then start it.

Start by reading the entire V-Diet portion of Gus’s Physique Clinic.

If you don’t follow my advice, I can 99% guarantee you that I will be back here in 28 days saying “I told you so.”

And one last thing, if you don’t know what macro totals means, then you really haven’t been lurking here for a year.

I get my shipments form Biotest in two to three days, i live on the otehr seid of the country from where it ships from. As for BM’s, do the diet right, and you ahve normal BM’s as I found out this morning, I was honestly worried aobut that.

See above, just order it, only a few select Biotest supps are available at stores. Just order from the source, its really flipping easy, takes 2-5 min, I shit you not. 2 days later, you have a big box at your door!

what I said before, SCIENTIFIC METHOD, if something is proven to work a certain way, and fail another (your current way) why would you NOT do it CORRECTLY the way it is PROVEN to work?

i understand this part, i would ahve flunked out of schoo lif i lived in the dorms, not from partying or anyhting, but from not being able to be on my own schedule, the few times i stayed in the dorms overnight, i bascially didn’t sleep, the only quiet time was from 4:30-about 5 or 5:30…

I honestly think you should focus on a good solid food diet first, as somone else said above, pick up “precision Nutrition” for around 100 bucks, www.precisionnutrition.com

I just want to point out, that at least I am not trying to be a jerk, just trying to point out the things you are doing wrong, I’m sure everyone would like you to do well, but from what we see, and what you have told us, you will not succeed, please do yourself a favor and read all the articles by John Berardi (currently author of the week at the home page), get precsion nutrition, look up Joe Defranco- West Side for Skinny Bastards, read, learn, DO NOT MODIFY, then you will A) lose fat and B) get bigger and stronger.
