Downtempo/Ambient/Psychedelic

There’s plenty of threads floating around about music, who else here is into downtempo / ambient / psychedelic music? Yeah, I’m loping three genres together, you wanna fight about it? I find generally if you like one, you’ll probably like the others, so there is rationale behind my doing. Anyway, if you have any songs you like that fit the criteria, feel free to post. I’d like to hear about new and different bands.

I’ll kick it off with a few…

^^ This song takes a long time to build up, but trust me, the wait is totally worth it. Best if played in the background as you read online

Dig the Morcheeba.

Bought an album of theirs not long a go. Superb.

Any of you guys like Mark Farina’s Mushroom Jazz? Vol 2 and Vol 5 are amazing. AMAZING.

Also, Kid Koala isn’t too bad.

Teardrop - Massive Attack

I love all this kind of stuff. Check out Saru, Grouse, Highend Sound, The Herbaliser, Galerie Stratique, Little People, Bullitnuts, Boozoo Bayou, Terranova, Ebla, General Midi, and my boy DJ Shadow. And I am amazed that I am the first dude here to mention BONOBO!!! Bonobo ftw

And to the OP… it’s totally ok to mix those up since chill/ downtempo actually encompasses a lot of different styles of electronic music. My Pandora plays DJ Shadow right after Ulrich Schnauss, and it’s always perfectly cool.

Enigma

“I love you, I’ll kill you, but I love you forever”

Gorillaz FTW,

I do like to set my shoutcast radio on my computer to a chill/downtempo or whatever station for bedtime. Enduces a nice medetative state whilst falling asleep. Really helps with sleep quality and I also think it happens to make my dreams better.

Pink Floyd: Marrooned

Thievery Corporation

Aphex Twins: Blue Calx, Tha,

Tristeza
