I feel you on this health stuff. I’ve never had health problems, but with a family history of high blood pressure and heart disease, I don’t know how much longer I want to keep my body weight up around 280 pounds. For my height, to be competitive I should be much heavier but I just can’t justify it anymore.
Best of luck, sir.
If I can’t be big and strong, I might as well look good naked. I’m going for the brad pit fight club look.
Priorities change the older you get.
Hey man, sorry to hear about your recent health troubles but good to see you’re staying on top of it. I like your last line. I think sometimes in pursuit of size and/or strength we lose sight of things like health, longevity, mobility, etc… Doing so cost me a fair amount, and out this point (at 30!!!) I’m straining to be 85% of where I was 5 years ago. But, the process is still enjoyable. Keep kicking ass bud.

Thanks.
In the end this may be a net positive. It’s the best motivation I’ve ever had to really get to the leanness I’d like. As much as people around here like to make fun of it, we all want nice abs and I haven’t seen mine in a long, long time. Not to mention, I’m already in range of 198 which could make me a more competitive lifter too, while lowering my maxes a little which could save my back and shoulders some. Once I get myself healthy, I’m planning some goals for BW percentage lifts instead of just weight lifted goals. Something like a 2xBW bench and a 3xBW deadlift would be pretty cool.
I’m purposefully not doing measurements or taking pics though. I already am feeling smaller and I don’t like it. I’m hoping focusing on health I can ditch some of those mental barriers I’ve built though.
You might feel smaller, but you’re still strong, your health is improving by the day and I’d be willing to bet you look and feel a hell of a lot better to boot. Lean, strong and healthy beats bloated, beat up and strong any day of the week. You’re kickin’ ass dude. Don’t get down on yourself.

I had EMR class on the second (6-10), a late conference call with Japan yesterday (6-9), and EMR class again today. My wife and I are still on 1 car which has made getting to and from all these things really time consuming. So I haven’t been able to train and won’t get to today. I’m going to try to tomorrow, but it’s my wife’s B-day, so we’ll if she lets me.

Couple of notes. I have been foam rolling the shit out of everything about once a week. I should also have a weighted vest arriving soon so I can challenge myself on the walks. I ordered the 84 pound x-vest. Also, down to 211 as of this morning (-8)
